MG Motor India’s Windsor EV, under JSW, has seen a significant surge in sales, reaching its highest monthly sales figures in July 2025 with 4,308 units. This success has pushed total sales to over 36,000 units since its launch, further solidifying the company’s standing in the electric vehicle market. Consequently, MG’s EV market share increased to 32% in the second quarter of 2025, a rise of 4% from the previous quarter. During the same period, the Windsor’s average sales saw a 17% increase, accompanied by a 28% increase in overall EV wholesale sales for the brand.
The MG Windsor EV’s design is unique, differentiating it from typical crossover models. It combines features from hatchbacks, MPVs, and compact SUVs. The front of the car features LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, and an illuminated MG logo. The side profile showcases flowing lines, large windows, alloy wheels, and, on some trims, black-out pillars, creating a floating roof appearance.
The rear of the vehicle is styled with connected LED tail lights, a roof spoiler, and a raked rear window. Inside, the dark color scheme with accent details enhances the cabin, and the panoramic glass roof adds to its aesthetic appeal. The MG Windsor EV is priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹13.10 lakh for the top-end Essence Pro model, with the Windsor EV range having an ex-showroom price between ₹14 lakh and ₹18.10 lakh. The interior boasts numerous premium features, including ‘Aero Lounge’ seats that recline up to 135 degrees.
The central console features a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system for navigation and infotainment control. MG offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, starting at ₹9.99 lakh, along with a per-kilometer fee, which reduces the initial cost for consumers. All variants of the MG Windsor EV are equipped with a 38 kWh battery pack, which provides a maximum power of 134 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. This setup allows for a range of up to 331 kilometers on a single charge. The Pro variant includes a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, extending the range to 449 kilometers on a single charge, while the power output remains the same.
The Windsor’s popularity stems from its competitive pricing and its offering of premium features. Its affordable starting price and the BaaS option make owning an electric vehicle more accessible. The appealing cabin and reclining seats attract customers, while its crossover design caters well to families. This vehicle competes with models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 400, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Tata Curvv EV.
