The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023, has emerged as a major export success story for India, with its overseas shipments far exceeding domestic sales. The Jimny, a 4×4 off-roader designed for adventurous driving, was introduced in India on June 7, 2023. The three-door version of the Jimny has become a globally recognized off-roader, fueling strong export numbers. Exports of the Jimny have significantly outpaced domestic sales. The production of the three-door Jimny started in November 2020 at the Gurugram plant, with exports focused on African and Middle Eastern markets. The five-door Jimny, designed to accommodate more passengers, was launched in the Indian market in October 2023 and has also been a hit in export markets such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The five-door model’s export success was boosted when Suzuki Motor Corp launched it as the Nomade in Japan on January 30, 2025. The introduction of the new GST rates has led to price adjustments for the Maruti Jimny. After a reduction of up to ₹51,900, the starting price is ₹12.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The top model is priced at ₹14.45 lakh ex-showroom. The Jimny offers modern features, a 4X4 system, and a powerful petrol engine.
