In the Indian market, the Mahindra Thar is celebrated for its off-roading capabilities, attracting a significant following, particularly among young drivers. Its outstanding driving experience during off-road adventures sets it apart. Mahindra is set to launch a 3-door facelift model of the Thar, promising exciting updates.

Mahindra & Mahindra has enjoyed considerable success with the Thar since its introduction in 2020, establishing it as a leading lifestyle vehicle in India. The company has expanded the range with 2WD variants and the recent 5-door Thar Rocks, both appealing to customers.

The enduring popularity of the Thar
Despite robust demand, the Thar remains a popular choice. Mahindra is now focusing on a refreshed 3-door model. The mid-cycle update is in development, approximately five years after the second-generation variant’s launch, with test vehicles frequently observed.

Ongoing development of the updated XUV700
The facelifted Thar is expected to be unveiled shortly. Recently, Mahindra showcased four new concept vehicles with the next-gen platform. Testing continues for the updated XUV700, which is planned for an early 2026 launch.

    3-Door Thar Facelift: Key Features
Spy photos of the 3-door Thar facelift reveal a completely redesigned front bumper, enhancing the SUV’s bold appearance. The fog lamp housing now features sharp detailing. The familiar grille has been subtly revised, and Mahindra may introduce a C-shaped LED lighting signature.

    3-Door Thar Facelift: Powertrain Details
The updated Thar, with a new front fascia, will also feature redesigned alloy wheels. Mahindra will retain the ladder-frame design and engine options. This means the 1.5-liter diesel, 2.0-liter turbo petrol, and 2.2-liter diesel powertrains will remain unchanged.

    3-Door Thar Facelift: Interior Upgrades
The interior of the facelifted Thar will undergo significant upgrades, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated into the dashboard. The area surrounding the gear lever is also being updated, potentially including wireless charging pads.
