A video circulating online showcases a dark satin blue luxury Range Rover in motion. The focus, however, is on the car’s number plate. The video caption suggests that the plate has become the main attraction. This video, shared on August 21, has been viewed over 2.1 million times. Comments from users have been plentiful. Some users highlighted the ‘Choice’ appeal of the plate, considering it very cool. One user pointed out the uniqueness of the number in India. Others mentioned a value of 34 lakh rupees. The owner was praised for their luck. The event comes after Chandigarh’s RLA (Registering and Licensing Authority) conducted an e-auction for fancy numbers in August. The 0001 number from the CH01-DA series sold for 36.43 lakh rupees, a record high. With a starting price of only 50,000 rupees, the bidding eventually reached crores. Other numbers like 007 (James Bond-related) fetched 16.50 lakh rupees, 0003 went for 17.84 lakh, and 0009 was auctioned for 16.82 lakh. The four-day auction, held from August 19 to 22, saw 577 number plates sold. This resulted in record earnings of 4.08 crore rupees for RLA, exceeding the previous year’s by 1.1 crore. Currently, luxury cars and unique number plates go beyond simple identification, becoming symbols of status. Numbers like 0001 or 0007 are seen as a way for people to highlight their success and exclusivity. The CH01CE 0001 plate on the Chandigarh Range Rover demonstrated that a number plate can attract more attention than the car itself.
