BMW Group India has become the first luxury car manufacturer in India to surpass the 5,000 electric vehicle delivery mark, a major accomplishment in the country’s premium EV sector. To commemorate this achievement, the company launched a 4,000-kilometer-long high-power charging corridor, connecting Jammu and Madurai. This corridor strategically places charging stations every 300 kilometers along key national highways and within major cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Madurai. The charging stations, developed in partnership with Statiq and ZION, provide charging capacities from 120 kW to 720 kW, and are situated near convenient locations like cafes, restaurants, and public spaces for customer convenience. The corridor is open to all EV owners.
In the first half of 2025 alone, BMW and MINI experienced a significant surge, selling 1,322 electric vehicles, representing a 234% year-over-year increase. The company’s EV sales now constitute 18% of its total sales in India, with the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase being the most popular model, followed by the BMW i7. Furthermore, the company provides customers with access to over 6,000 charging points across India. Users can easily locate and activate these points via the myBMW app, which also offers real-time charger status updates and filtering options. BMW has also introduced a charging concierge service, a pioneering initiative in the industry.
