Honda Cars India Limited has achieved a major feat by exporting 200,000 vehicles from India, highlighting its strength and the triumph of the Make-in-India initiative. This milestone is a reflection of India’s growing manufacturing capabilities and Honda’s commitment to global quality. Initially, Honda began exporting to SAARC countries, including Nepal and Bhutan. By 2021, the company had successfully exported 50,000 units to SAARC, South Africa, and SADC regions. Subsequently, export volumes escalated, with the following 50,000 units delivered to markets such as the Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey within a span of two and a half years. A crucial turning point was the introduction of the Honda Elevate, sold as the WR-V in Japan, to international markets. This SUV propelled the company to export another 100,000 units within just two years. The Honda City and Honda Elevate are the top-selling models in the export market, accounting for approximately 78% of the total export volume. Other models, including Brio, Amaze, Jazz, BR-V, Mobilio, City e:HEV, Accord, and CR-V, make up the remaining 22%. Honda’s Indian-made cars are now available in 33 countries. Japan leads as the primary market, representing around 30% of total exports. South Africa and SADC nations account for 26%, Mexico 19%, and Turkey 16%. The remaining 9% are exported to the Middle East, SAARC countries, South America, and the Caribbean.
