September 2025 is shaping up to be a busy month for the Indian automotive market, with several new car launches planned. The period leading up to Diwali is often a time when car manufacturers introduce new models to attract buyers. The vehicles expected to debut include the Vinfast VF6 and VF7, the Maruti Escudo SUV, the Mahindra Thar Facelift, the Citroen Basalt X, and the Volvo EX30 EV.

    **Vinfast’s Indian Debut:**
Vinfast, the Vietnamese EV company, is set to begin sales in India on September 6, 2025. The VF6 will have a 59.6 kWh battery, offering a range of around 480 km. The VF7 will feature a 70.8 kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 450 km. Production of both electric SUVs will take place in Tamil Nadu, potentially making a significant impact on the Indian EV market.

    **Maruti Escudo SUV Launch:**
Maruti Suzuki will introduce its new mid-size SUV, the Escudo, on September 3. It will be larger than the Grand Vitara and built on the same platform. The Escudo will offer a strong hybrid engine option and will be sold through the Arena dealership network. The expected starting price is approximately ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom).

    **Mahindra Thar’s Update:**
Mahindra is likely to launch the facelifted Thar (3-door) in the first week of September. This update will include exterior changes and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with engine options expected to remain the same. The upgraded Thar will boast a more modern design and improved features.

    **Citroen Basalt X Pre-bookings:**
Citroen India has opened pre-bookings for the Basalt X, with a booking amount of ₹21,000. The launch is anticipated in mid-September. The car will include new color schemes and advanced features. It’s expected to use the 1.2L turbo petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.

    **Volvo’s Affordable EV:**
The Volvo EX30, positioned as Volvo’s most affordable electric car, will feature a 69 kWh battery pack with a range of 480 km (WLTP). The car will support 150 kW DC fast charging, enabling a full charge in just 25 minutes.
