The Kia Syros EV, a forthcoming electric SUV, has been observed undergoing testing in India for the first time. The vehicle was seen at a charging station in Kochi, with its design partially hidden by camouflage. Despite the covering, key design elements, such as the window line, roof rails, pillars, shark fin antenna, and body-colored ORVMs, were visible, and these closely resemble the design of the ICE model. No changes were apparent in the front and rear lighting.

Minor modifications are expected in the EV’s design, possibly including changes to the grille and the addition of a charging port at the front. The EV could also feature exterior EV badging and green brake calipers, as noted in earlier test models. The dimensions of this compact electric SUV are not expected to change.

Inside the cabin, minor adjustments are also anticipated. The Kia Syros EV may incorporate new trim and upholstery, as well as an instrument cluster equipped with EV-specific software. The feature set is likely to be similar to its ICE-powered counterpart, potentially making it one of the most feature-rich and spacious vehicles in its segment.

Specifications for the Syros EV’s battery pack have not yet been released. However, reports suggest the electric SUV may share its powertrain with the Hyundai Exter EV, which is expected to launch in India in 2026. Globally, the Exter EV is available with two NMC battery pack options: 42kWh and 49kWh, offering ranges of 300 km and 355 km, respectively.

Upon its launch, the Kia Syros EV will compete with models such as the MG ZS EV and Tata Punch EV. It is expected to be positioned as an affordable electric car in India, with prices starting around ₹14 lakh for the base variant and potentially reaching up to ₹20 lakh for the top-end trim. Currently, the Carens Clavis EV is Kia’s most affordable electric SUV in India, priced between ₹17.99 lakh and ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
