The Indian automotive landscape is undergoing a transformation, with several manufacturers adjusting prices in response to the implementation of GST 2.0. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia are among the brands offering price cuts across their product lines, including compact SUVs. If you’re considering purchasing a new car, now might be the perfect time. This article highlights the top 5 compact SUVs offering substantial savings due to GST adjustments.
**Maruti Brezza**
The Maruti Brezza, a sub-4 meter SUV, features a 1.5-liter petrol engine. Its current price ranges from ₹8.69-13.98 lakh (ex-showroom), inclusive of 45% GST. With the tax rate reduction to 40% effective September 22nd, expect price drops between ₹30,000 and ₹48,000, varying by variant. Post-GST adjustments, the Brezza’s price is anticipated to be within the range of ₹8.39-13.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
**Hyundai Venue**
The Hyundai Venue has significantly benefited from GST 2.0, with price reductions of up to ₹1.32 lakh in the Indian market. The price adjustments affect both petrol (1.0 and 1.2 liter) and diesel (1.5 liter) variants. The previous tax structure, which levied approximately 29% (28% GST + 1% cess) and 31% (28% GST + 3% cess) on petrol and diesel models, respectively, has been replaced with an 18% GST slab.
Currently priced between ₹7.94-13.38 lakh (ex-showroom), the Hyundai Venue will see prices shift to the ₹7.26-12.05 lakh (ex-showroom) range post-GST 2.0. The top-end diesel variant will see a ₹1.32 lakh reduction, while the base variant’s price will decrease by ₹68,000.
**Kia Sonet**
The Kia Sonet is also experiencing significant benefits from GST 2.0, with price reductions up to ₹1.64 lakh in the domestic market. Similar to the Venue, petrol and diesel variants previously faced 29% (28% GST + 1% cess) and 31% (28% GST + 3% cess) taxes. The GST changes have placed these variants under the 18% slab.
The Kia Sonet is available from ₹8 lakh, with the top-end GTX Plus DT diesel-automatic variant priced at ₹15.74 lakh. Following the GST changes, prices will range from ₹7.30-14.10 lakh, leading to price reductions of ₹70,000-₹1.64 lakh in the Indian market.
**Tata Nexon**
Tata Motors has announced price reductions of up to ₹1.55 lakh for its Nexon compact SUV, effective from September 22nd. The petrol and diesel variants previously faced taxes of 29% (28% GST + 1% cess) and 31% (28% GST + 3% cess). GST 2.0 will apply a uniform 18% GST rate across all Nexon variants.
