Honda is focusing on the Activa E electric scooter, aiming to capitalize on its strong position in the two-wheeler market. However, it faces stiff competition from the TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak EV. Honda is trying to differentiate itself by offering a battery exchange network to counter range anxiety. The initial response to this program has prompted Honda to launch more affordable BAAS battery rental plans for the Activa-E.

The new Lite Plan is priced at Rs 678, providing usage up to 20 kWh. These charges are incorporated into the scooter’s overall price. Honda Power Pack Energy India manages the battery swapping stations. A major downside of the Activa E is its reliance on battery swapping due to the lack of standard charging capability. The scooter uses 1.5 kWh removable battery packs and a mid-mounted motor, which impacts boot space. It is designed to provide a range of approximately 102 km per full charge.

Initially, BAAS plans started at Rs 1,999 for up to 35 kWh per month (Basic Plan) and Rs 3,599 for up to 82 kWh per month (Advanced Plan).

Comparing the Activa E with its rivals, it boasts a 6KW Axle Mounted Wheel Side PMSM Motor, 3KWH battery capacity (two swappable 1.5KWH batteries), and a range of 102km per charge. The TVS iQube features a 3KW BLDC Motor, a 2.2 KWH and 3.4KWH battery pack, and a range of 75km/100km. The Bajaj Chetak is equipped with a 3.5 kwh Motor, battery capacity from 2.88 KWH To 3.5 KWH, and range of 123km to 153km. The Suzuki e-Access utilizes a Swingarm Mounted 4.1 KW motor, a 3.07 KWH LFP battery, and has a range of 95 Km. Features like DRL’s, Bluetooth Connectivity, and Keyless Ignition are present on the Activa E, similar to features found in the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.
