    New Delhi: Fintech firm BharatPe Group announced its financial performance for FY 2023-24 on Wednesday, reporting a consolidated EBITDA loss (before share-based payment expense) of Rs 209 crore for the last financial year. The consolidated EBITDA loss was Rs 826 crore in FY 2022-23.

    According to the company, its consolidated revenue from operations grew by 39 per cent YoY (year-on-year), from Rs 1,029 crore to Rs 1,426 crore, and consolidated loss before tax was reduced by 50 per cent YoY, from Rs 941 crore to Rs 474 crore.

    The company’s average merchant lending portfolio from loans originating through its platform grew by 40 per cent year-on-year (FY24 vs FY23). The company said that it witnessed a great response for its soundbox devices in FY24.

    BharatPe also said that its consolidated cash burn was reduced by 85 per cent on a YoY basis. CEO Nalin Negi said: “FY24 was a milestone year for us as BharatPe turned EBITDA positive in October 2024. Also, we considerably slashed our cash burn in FY24 and are on track to build a sustainable and profitable business.”

    “Over the last year, we have been able to partner with renowned financial institutions to extend credit access to merchants, which is a great validation for our business. We will focus on growing our lending vertical, launching new offerings across POS, soundbox, and scaling our consumer vertical,” he added.

    The company has diversified its portfolio into new categories to drive business growth. Recently, BharatPe rebranded its PostPe app to BharatPe, marking its entry into the consumer payments space. BharatPe has raised over US$583 million in equity till date.

    The company’s list of investors includes Peak XV Partners (formerly known as Sequoia Capital India), Ribbit Capital, Insight Partners, Amplo, Beenext, Coatue Management, Dragoneer Investment Group, Steadfast Capital, Steadview Capital and Tiger Global.

  • Over 2.75 Lakh URLs Whitelisted By 10,000 Entities After TRAI Guidance |

    New Delhi: Over 10,000 business entities have whitelisted more than 2.75 lakh URLs, after the guidance issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in August, the telecom regulator said in a release said on Wednesday.

    The TRAI directed all Access Service Providers to stop transmitting messages containing URLs, APKs and OTT links, which are not whitelisted by the Senders. The direction came into effect from October 1.

    Whitelisting a URL is the process of adding a URL to a list of approved resources that can be accessed. Whitelisting is a cybersecurity strategy that helps to protect devices and data from threats like malware, phishing, and hackers.

    “In compliance with TRAI’s August 20, 2024, directive, Access Providers have implemented mandatory whitelisting of URLs, APKs, or OTT links in messages by sending Entities,” the TRAI release added.

    TRAI has introduced stricter measures to combat the spam calls. It includes disconnection of telecom resources for violators. Over 800 entities have been blacklisted, and more than 18 lakh numbers have been disconnected for non-compliance, as per the release.

    Additionally, TRAI has enforced the migration of telemarketing calls using the 140 series to the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) platform, improving monitoring and reducing misuse, the release added. Other actions include the blocking of 3.5 lakh unused headers and 12 lakh content templates prone to fraud, further safeguarding consumers, as per the TRAI release.

    Access Providers are in the process of implementing technical solutions to ensure better message traceability. This involves mandating the Senders to define the complete chain of TMs through which messages travel before reaching the consumers. This would ensure that Heads and Content templates of the Senders are not misused by fraudulent elements, the regulator stated.

    With expanded collaboration through the Joint Committee of Regulators (JCoR), TRAI continues to work with agencies like RBI, SEBI, and IRDAI to tighten control over commercial communications and explore future enhancements, as per the regulator.

  • Delhi Court Extends Interim Bail Of Engineer Rashid Till October 28 In Terror Funding Case |

    NEW DELHI: The Patiala House Court in Delhi on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Engineer Rashid, an independent Lok Sabha MP from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, till October 28 in connection with a terror funding case. The court granted the extension on medical grounds, relating to Rashid’s father.
    Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh, while extending the interim bail, directed Rashid to surrender before the jail authorities by 12 noon on October 28, 2024. The court also deferred the pronouncement of its order on his regular bail plea until the same date.

    The same judge had previously granted Rashid interim bail on September 10 to allow him to campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, and has now postponed the decision on his regular bail plea. The court noted that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had verified the medical documents and did not oppose the extension of interim bail sought by the applicant.

    The elections for the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly were conducted in three phases from September 18 to October 1, with the results announced on October 8. The National Conference-Congress alliance secured 48 seats, followed by the BJP with 29 seats. In 2005, Engineer Rashid was arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Srinagar for allegedly supporting militants and was held for three months and 17 days. He faced charges of anti-national activities and was incarcerated in Cargo, Humhama, and Raj Bagh prisons. However, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Srinagar later dropped all charges against him on humanitarian grounds.

    In August 2019, Rashid was again arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). During his incarceration, he filed his nomination for the 2024 parliamentary elections from jail and won by a margin of 204,000 votes, defeating former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

    The EA-18G Growler aircraft crashed east of Mount Rainier on Tuesday afternoon during a routine training flight, the Navy said in a statement.

    As of Tuesday night, the status of the crew members was unknown, the Navy said. Their identities weren’t released.

    The jet was based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in northwest Washington.
