    Shillong Teer is a lottery game in which tickets ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 100 can be purchased. Sales start at 10 a.m., Monday to Sunday. Players must guess the number of arrows shot by 50 archers in the first and second rounds at Shillong’s Polo Ground in two minutes, with a maximum of 30 and 20 arrows respectively. Meghalaya has about 5,000 ticket counters distributed across 11 districts.

    In a single day, the player must guess the last two digits of the total number of arrows shot and hit the target. The winner of the lottery is the individual who correctly predicts the number. Every day, 50 archers shoot 30 arrows in the first round and just 20 arrows in the second.

    American Airlines will add oat milk creamer to its in-flight menu after animal welfare advocates successfully petitioned the carrier to introduce a vegan creamer option. 

    The airline will introduce the new alternative to its menus beginning in November, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said in a statement Tuesday. 

    PETA has called on airlines to offer vegan creamer options, which the group says benefits cow while also providing a healthier, more environmentally friendly choice for passengers. The group says that industrial milk production practices are cruel to cows and that many travelers are lactose intolerant.

    Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines introduced oat milk options to their menus last year, with United Airlines and JetBlue adding oat milk creamer on board this year. American is the fifth major carrier to add vegan creamer to its menu.

    After the PAC meeting was adjourned, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Venugopal for taking a unilateral decision and said that several committee members, including the BJP and its allies, are approaching Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding Venugopal’s conduct.

    However, the PAC’s decision to review the performance of regulatory bodies did not face any objection. However, Venugopal’s move to call Butch has created concern among BJP members, as she has been at the center of the political controversy triggered by Hindenburg’s allegations.

    The short-seller’s allegations against Butch were used by the Congress party to demand his removal and to criticize the government, adding a political dimension to the panel’s request for his presence.

    PAC member BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, accusing Venugopal of raising “non-existent” issues to tarnish the reputation of the central government and “destabilize” the country’s financial structure and economy.

    Dubey alleged that Venugopal’s action was politically motivated, inspired by the Congress party’s position in the opposition after the Lok Sabha elections. Recently, the Farmers Union had also lodged an objection with Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh regarding this.

    Air India And Singapore Airlines Codeshare Agreement: Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have agreed to expand their codeshare agreement, adding 11 Indian cities and another 40 international destinations to their network. This marks the first extensive expansion of codeshare arrangements between the airlines since 2010, offering customers enhanced travel options between Singapore and India, as well as beyond.

    A codeshare pact allows two airlines to offer their customers services on each other’s flights. From October 27 this year, Air India and SIA will codeshare on each other’s flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, increasing their total weekly scheduled codeshare services between the countries to 56 from 14.

    SIA will codeshare on Air India’s domestic flights between Delhi and Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi, between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as between Kolkata and Guwahati.

    Air India customers will be able to access 29 destinations across SIA’s network. However, regional parties like Shiv Sena-UBT and the NCP-Sharad Pawar did not buzz and after marathon meetings, the parties agreed to Shiv Sena-UBT’s proposal of contesting below 100 seats. Now, all three big parties will contest 85 seats each, leaving the rest of the seats for Samajwadi Party, PWP, CPI(M), CPI, and AAP.

    Congress Being Pushed To The Wall

    Once the largest party in the country, Congress is increasingly being pushed to the back seats across big states. INDIA bloc allies are forcing the grand old party either to sit out or sit back when it comes to seat sharing. Be it in West Bengal or Tamil Nadu, the allies took control of the polls by bagging the majority shares of the seats. The same is happening across other states where the Congress has failed to perform in a direct contest against the BJP. While Congress has displayed a maturity by playing second fiddle in these polls, the party will suffer in the long-run as the allies will bcome stronger, leaving less space for Congress.

    The editorials editor of the Los Angeles Times has resigned after the newspaper’s owner blocked the editorial board’s plans to endorse Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris for president, a journalism trade publication reported Wednesday.

    Mariel Garza told the Columbia Journalism Review in an interview that she resigned because the Times was remaining silent on the contest in “dangerous times.”

    “I am resigning because I want to make it clear that I am not OK with us being silent,” Garza said. “In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up.”

    In a post on the social media platform X that did not directly mention the resignation, LA Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong said the board was asked to do a factual analysis of the policies of Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump during their time at the White House.

    Additionally, “The board was asked to provide (its) understanding of the policies and plans enunciated by the candidates during this campaign and its potential effect on the nation in the next four years,” he wrote. “In this way, with this clear and non-partisan information side-by-side, our readers could decide who would be worthy of being president for the next four years.”

    Soon-Shiong, who bought the paper in 2018, said the board “chose to remain silent and I accepted their decision.”

    Garza told the Columbia Journalism Review that the board had intended to endorse Harris and she had drafted the outline of a proposed editorial.

    A LA Times spokesperson did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.

    The LA Times Guild Unit Council & Bargaining Committee said it was “deeply concerned about our owner’s decision to block a planned endorsement in the presidential race.”

    “We are even more concerned that he is now unfairly assigning blame to Editorial Board members for his decision not to endorse,” the guild said in a statement. “We are still pressing for answers from newsroom management on behalf of our members.”

    Trump’s campaign jumped on Garza’s departure, saying the state’s largest newspaper had declined to endorse the Democratic ticket after backing Harris in her previous races for U.S. Senate and state attorney general.

    Her exit comes about 10 months after then-Executive Editor Kevin Merida left the paper in what was called a “mutually agreed” upon departure. At the time, the news organization said it had fallen well short of its digital subscriber goals and needed a revenue boost to sustain the newsroom and its digital operations.
