  • BRICS 2024: Russian Prez Putin Calls For De-Escalation In Middle East, Opens Up On Ties With US | world news

BRICS Summit 2024: In his statements during the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about various issues ranging from Russia’s role as a moderator in the Middle East to the country’s relationship with North Korea and Donald Trump, amongst other issues.

Speaking about the payment mechanism between the BRICS member countries, Putin said, “BRICS does not aim to create a separate payment system. The BRICS countries realize that the payments problem is one of the main obstacles to cooperation within the bloc, but member states will use existing systems to circumvent it.”

Earlier during the Summit, President Putin had proposed to create a new investment platform for BRICS countries, amongst other measures announced during the Summit. Commenting upon the United States, he said that investigations have shown that Donald Trump has had no ties with Russia and he noted, “If the United States is open to normal relations with Russia, we will do the same.”

While Putin welcomed the statements from President Trump to end the conflict in Ukraine, he denied the allegations of Russia ‘planning to sow chaos in Europe; and called it “complete garbage.” Speaking about Russia’s relationship with North Korea, he said, “It is our business how we implement the North Korea partnership.”

The Kazan Declaration had seen the member countries show grave concern at the deterioration of the situation and humanitarian crisis in the Middle East and had called for “urgent measures in accordance with international law to ensure the protection of lives” in the affected areas.

President Putin, in his speech, reiterated the sentiment and said, “We are concerned by the events in the Middle East and do not want the conflict to worsen”. He said that Russia has “a role in the settlement of conflict in the Middle East”.

BRICS, as a formal grouping, started after the meeting of the Leaders of Russia, India and China in St. Petersburg on the margins of the G8 Outreach Summit in 2006. The grouping was formalized during the first meeting of BRIC Foreign Ministers on the margins of UNGA in New York in 2006. The first BRIC Summit was held in Russia’s Yekaterinburg in 2009.

It was agreed to expand BRIC into BRICS with the inclusion of South Africa at the BRIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New York in 2010. South Africa attended the 3rd BRICS Summit in Sanya in 2011. A further expansion of BRICS took place in 2024 with five new members – Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Navdunia Representative, Bhopal. The poor traffic system of the old city has become even worse after the installation of metro barricades. Vehicles crawl on the roads and traffic jams persist throughout the day. To deal with these challenges of traffic chaos, the traffic police is now preparing to deploy additional forces at the intersections of old Bhopal.

The field staff has informed the higher authorities about the plight of the traffic, after which the need for additional force was felt for manual traffic management. Traffic DCP Sanjay Singh has written a letter to Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra regarding this demand.

Manual traffic management will be increased in view of the festival

In the demand letter sent to the Police Commissioner, the Traffic DCP has demanded 40 policemen to improve the traffic system. At present the traffic police has an active force of about 450 policemen, who are deployed at various intersections of the city. In view of this, the traffic police will deploy policemen for manual traffic management from Karond intersection to bus stand and Bharat Talkies.

There are continuous complaints regarding traffic jams.

  • Big Blow To South Africa As Temba Bavuma Ruled Out Of Second Test Against Bangladesh | cricket news

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh, which will begin on Tuesday in Chattogram. Bavuma failed to recover in time from an elbow injury, and in his absence, Aiden Markam will continue to serve as the stand-in captain of the Proteas.

“We just feel medically, he’s not going to be ready for the second Test. We will tone down the [rehabilitation] program so that he can be ready for the Sri Lankan series,” South Africa’s Test coach Shukri Conrad said from Dhaka as quoted from ESPNcricinfo.

A decision has yet to be made, on whether Bavuma will stay with the squad or return to South Africa to recover from his injury and play domestic cricket. South Africa’s first-class domestic competition will begin next week, and the Lions’, a team where Bavuma plays, will play three matches before the Proteas’ opening Test against Sri Lanka.

“I’d like him to stay [in Bangladesh]and I’ve communicated that with him. But I also know that he’s got a young family. But yes, I’d like him to stay. He still plays a valuable role. It’s still his team. We’ll see how it unfolds,” Conrad added.

Bavuma’s latest setback dates back to earlier this month in an ODI against Ireland. During the match, he fell awkwardly while trying to complete a run. He retired hurt on 35 during that game and didn’t turn up to take the field later in the match. The elbow injury bears similarity to the one that Bavuma sustained on a T20I tour of India in 2022. Later that year, the injury ruled him out of South Africa’s tour of England.

In Bavuma’s place, Matthew Breetzke was called in and received his debut Test cap in Mirpur. There are other possible options available to replace Bavuma, but it will depend on the setup that South African management decides to field. In the opening Test, South Africa forced Bangladesh to pack on 106 in the first innings with a four-bowler attack, which featured two pacers and two spinners.

During the series opener, Kagiso Rabada etched his name in the history book by becoming the quickest to hit 300 Test wickets in terms of ball bowled. Conrad gave a special tribute to the player he called “our superstar Rolls Royce fast bowler.” Rabada took nine wickets in the match and his first five-wicket haul in the subcontinent.

“We are an inexperienced side, but we still need our leaders. KB led from the front there with the ball. He carried this attack, as he has done for quite a while now. And then backed up by some really valuable contributions by others with the ball, and then guys with the bat as well,” Conrad remarked.

  • ‘Stop This…’: Farooq Abdullah’s Warning To Pakistan After J&K Attacks |

New Delhi: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has publicly accused Pakistan of orchestrating terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the neighboring nation to halt its aggressive actions. In a strongly worded statement, Farooq stated that Islamabad should ‘put an end’ to its constant attacks and “find a way to be friends… otherwise issues will arise”.

The statement came after a troubling surge in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, including a deadly strike late Thursday night on an Army vehicle in Baramulla that killed four people including two soldiers and two civilians. Just three days before, gunmen shot and killed six construction workers and a doctor in Ganderbal.

While talking to media in Baramulla, the NC chief said, “These terror attacks will persist in the state until we find a viable solution… we all know where they stem from. For 30 years, I have watched innocent people lose their lives. Why is Pakistan engaging in this, jeopardizing its own future, especially when it’s clear we will never be part of Pakistan?”

Baramulla, J&K: JKNC President Farooq Abdullah reacts to the recent terror attack, says, “I have been witnessing this since 1984. This terrorism has not stopped. Many of our colleagues were martyred, but it still continues every year. This means it has not stopped, and you know… pic.twitter.com/isPorL3eCf

He stated that Islamabad is mistaken in believing these attacks will bring Kashmir under its control. “I have been witnessing this since 1984. This terrorism has not stopped. Many of our colleagues were martyred, but it still continues every year,” he remarked, adding that the violence persists due to known sources. “They mistakenly think that this will help them unite Kashmir with Pakistan,” he said.

In conversation with news agency ANI, Farooq remarked, “We are not going to be part of Pakistan, so why are they doing this – to disrupt our future? They should look towards their country and the issues out there.”

Earlier today, security forces resumed search operations in Baramulla following last night’s clash between the Indian Army and terrorists. The attack on a military vehicle in Baramulla resulted in the deaths of two Indian Army soldiers and two civilian porters, according to Army officials. One soldier and one porter were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.
