  • K-Rail Can Be Implemented If Technical Issues In Design Addressed, Says Ashwini Vaishnav | Mobility News

The Kerala government’s ambitious K-Rail semi-high-speed rail project is back in the news again as the Centre assured on Sunday that the project can be taken forward if the technical and environmental issues in its design are addressed by the state authorities.

The multi-crore project has been shelved for some time due to intense protest from opposition parties and the general public and also for want of permission from the union government.

Giving a fresh hope to the project, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that he had discussed the matter with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan when they had last met in New Delhi.

“I requested the CM that whatever technical and environmental issues are there in the design of the K-Rail, please address them expeditiously, so that, this project can also be taken forward. Because from our side – the NDA government – we believe in cooperative federalism,” he told reporters here.

The union minister further said that the Centre is committed to constructing the Sabari rail from Angamaly to Erumely as per the original alignment.

Vaishnav said that the state government recently sent a letter to the Centre with attaching certain conditions. “So, we will be very soon sending a format to the Kerala government which we have done with the government of Maharashtra,” he said.

Once the state authorities fill up the format, then the project (Sabari rail) can start and move forward, the union minister added.

The K Rail, a semi-high speed rail corridor, aims to ease transportation along the entire north and south stretch of Kerala and reduce the travel time to less than four hours, as against 12 to 14 hours at present.

The SilverLine would cover a 530-kilometre stretch from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod and be developed by K-Rail, a joint venture of the Kerala government and the Ministry of Railways.

The Opposition Congress and the BJP in Kerala have been protesting against the SilverLine project, saying it will affect the families who will be displaced due to its implementation.

  • Over Half Of Smartphones Projected To Be GenAI-Ready By 2028 Globally |

New Delhi: More than half of smartphones shipped in 2028 are projected to be GenAI capable, as broader use cases continue to emerge and availability expands across price segments, according to a new report.

The global smartphone market has reached maturity, and shipments are expected to remain stable in the coming years. Growth will likely be driven by emerging markets like India, MEA and Southeast Asia.

“We expect smartphone revenues to continue to grow through 2028 as the premiumisation trend continues across markets. New technologies like GenAI and foldables are also likely to drive average selling price (ASP) growth as adoption rates rise,” said Counterpoint Research Director Tarun Pathak.

While the smartphone market has enjoyed strong YoY growth over the last few quarters, it is mainly due to a recovery in macroeconomic conditions and consumer demand. While shipment growth may have slowed in recent quarters, global smartphone revenue growth accelerated in Q3 2024, recording 10 per cent YoY growth to reach the highest-ever levels for a third quarter.

Apple led the market in smartphone revenues capturing a 43 percent share and recording its highest-ever Q3 revenues, shipments, and ASPs. A slightly earlier launch of the iPhone 16 series, a product mix increasingly favoring Pro versions and continued expansion in non-core markets drove Apple’s success in Q3, said Research Director Jeff Fieldhack.

With most major brands recording strong revenue growth, the $400 and above segment gained a net 2% per cent share YoY in Q3 2024. The ongoing premiumisation wave, observed across regions, has incentivized OEMs to rethink their premium portfolio and device financing strategies.

The report expects the premiumisation trend to continue in the coming years and project global smartphone ASPs to rise at a CAGR of 3 per cent from 2023 through 2028.

  • Big disclosure of Lalluram.com: Fake cards are being made by cloning IRCTC ID cards and then illegal vending is taking place…

Prateek Chauhan. Raipur. These days a big game is going on in Raipur railway station. Cafe Light, a hotel located in Raipur Railway Station, is preparing fake ID cards by cloning IRCTC cards and due to this, illegal vending is being done in Raipur Railway Station.

Lalluram.com has made this shocking revelation after thorough investigation. This is the first case in the country in which it is being revealed how IRCTC cards are being cloned and sold illegally.

Lalluram was continuously receiving complaints of illegal vending from Raipur Railway Station. But whenever we reached, we came to know that all the vendors had I-cards. Therefore, today to expose them, we started investigating whether these cards are fake or genuine by taking photographs of the ID cards of all the vendors.

The correspondent of Lalluram.com took photographs of the ID cards of about 11 vendors present in platform number 1 during the time of Wainganga Superfast Express on November 3 from 12:11 pm to 12:19 pm. After this, the team contacted the officials of the commercial department of Raipur Railway Station and informed them about illegal vending. After this, we reached Hotel Cafe Light and showed these pictures to the officials there and asked which one was real and which one was fake.

The manager claimed that all the cards are correct and he has permission for vending from 10 vendors. But Lalluram.com showed him the ID cards of 11 vendors. After which it became clear that one card was fake and it had been prepared after cloning.

But the manager did not accept this and we checked it digitally. After which it was shockingly revealed that many of these cards are fake and have been prepared by cloning, due to which not only IRCTC but also Railways is being defrauded.

The senior Congress leader hailed the people of Wayanad for standing up for what is right and fighting against oppressors.

“This land where all of you live together no matter what religion you are from. You have a courageous and strong history of leaders like Pazhassi Raja, Thalakkal Chanthu, and Edachena Kunkan. You have always fought for what is right; you have always fought against oppressors; you have always fought for equality,” the Congress leader said.

During the election campaign, Priyanka Gandhi was accompanied by her brother and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. She also praised the people of Wayanad for supporting her brother Rahul Gandhi.

“When my brother, Rahul Gandhi ji, was facing massive difficulties, he was being attacked every day by the BJP. A huge campaign was launched against him to tarnish his reputation; it was you, my brothers and sisters, who recognized that this man is fighting for what is right; he is fighting for the truth, and you stood by him; you supported him and gave him the courage to fight,” she said.

Wayanad, a Congress bastion, is set to witness a contest between the grand old party’s candidate Priyanka Gandhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Navya Haridas, and the Left candidate Sathyan Mokeri in the upcoming bypolls.

Priyanka Gandhi is contesting from the Wayanad constituency as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate and is seeking election from the seat her brother Rahul Gandhi vacated.

Wayanad’s seat was vacated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after he was also elected to Lok Sabha from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh in the general elections held earlier this year.

Wayanad will go to the polls on November 13 along with voting for bye-elections in 47 assembly seats across 15 states. The first phase of assembly polls in Jharkhand will also be held on November 13.

  • Kamala Harris Recalls Her ‘Frequent’ Visits To India For Diwali During Childhood | world news

Washington: Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic presidential candidate, in an op-ed on Saturday, recalled her frequent visit to India as a child, and her mother’s mission to cure cancer.

“Growing up, my mother raised my sister and me to appreciate and honor our heritage. Nearly every other year, we would go to India for Diwali. We would spend time with our grandparents, our uncles, and our chitthis,” Harris said in the op-ed for The Jaggernaut, an online South Asian publication.

“And as Vice President, it has been my honor to host Diwali celebrations in my home — the Vice President’s Residence. Not only to celebrate the holiday, but to celebrate the rich history, culture, and heritage of the South Asian American diaspora, which is bound together by a shared sense of possibility and belief in the promise of America,” she said.

In her op-ed published three days before the November 5th general elections, Harris wrote that as a 19-year-old, her mother Shyamala Harris crossed the world alone, traveling from India to the United States. “My mother had two goals in her life: to raise her two daughters, my sister Maya and me, and to cure breast cancer,” she wrote.

“When I was little, when we traveled to India, we would also visit my grandfather, PV Gopalan, in what was then called Madras. My grandfather was a retired civil servant. His morning routine consisted of taking long walks on the beach with his retired buddies. I would join him on those walks and listen to stories about the importance of fighting for democracy and civil rights,” she wrote.

“Throughout these walks, I recall my grandfather teaching me lessons about not just what it means to have a democracy but to keep a democracy. Those lessons first inspired my interest in public service. And they continue to guide me today — as Vice President and as a candidate for President of the United States,” Harris said.

She said she believes Americans want a president who works for all the American people. “And that has been the story of my entire career,” he said.

“South Asian Americans are often overlooked by our healthcare system, especially when it comes to heart health and diabetes. I worked with President Joe Biden to cap insulin prices for seniors at $35, and reduce drug costs. I will protect the Affordable Care Act and expand Medicare to cover home care for seniors. This is personal for me. When my mother had cancer, I helped take care of her and did everything I could to make her comfortable. I understand the burdens of caregiving and will work to ease them for your families,” she wrote.

“With respect to fixing our broken immigration system, I reject the false choice between securing our border and creating a system of immigration that is orderly and humane. We can and must do both. The bipartisan border security bill I support does that. It will reduce illegal border crossings through strict enforcement, so that South Asian lives aren’t endangered,” she said.

“Our role in the world is also at stake in this election, and I will ensure that we strengthen, not abdicate, our global leadership. As Vice President, I have expanded our relationships with key South Asian partners, including India. And unlike Trump , who cozies up to tyrants and whose own national security officials have deemed ‘dangerous’ and ‘unfit’, I will never waver in defending America’s security and ideals,” she wrote.

“Donald Trump is an unserious man, but the consequences of him ever getting back into the White House are brutally serious. Trump and his extremist allies will cut Social Security and Medicare. His economic policies will drive inflation higher, and cause a recession by mid -2025 He intends to impose what I call a ‘Trump sales tax’ which is at least a 20% tax, if not more, on everyday necessities,” Harris said. wrote.
