  • Ministry Of National Defense Tracks 8 Chinese Military Aircraft Around Taiwan | world news

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported eight Chinese military aircraft with four aircraft entering the Southwest Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) near Taiwan on Thursday.

According to MND, the aircraft were tracked between 6 am on Wednesday and 6 am on Thursday. People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) aircraft did not cross the Taiwan Strait median line. On the other hand, Taiwan deployed coastal-based missiles and aircraft in response to monitor the situation.

In a post on Recently, MND reported 6 PLA aircraft and 9 PLAN vessels with four aircraft crossing the median line and entering Taiwan’s northern and southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). Taiwan MND said, “6 PLA aircraft and 9 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 am (UTC+8) today. 4 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”

China has increased its military activities around Taiwan by deploying aircraft and naval vessels since September 2020. China has used gray zone tactics to achieve its security objective.

Earlier, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te convened a high-level national security conference in which he assured the public about the government’s commitment to neutralizing any threat to Taiwan’s democracy and security after China staged a large-scale military drill around the island.

According to the Taipei Times, he responded to the warning given by China’s PLA that they would start a military drill known as “Joint Sword-2024B” in Taiwan. Taiwan has been an independent state since 1949. However, China claims Taiwan as its territory and uses military force to reunify the region.

  • Domestic Institutional Investors Pour Record Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore In Equities In October | Economy News

Mumbai: In a new monthly record, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) infused more than Rs 1 lakh crore in Indian equities in October amid heavy selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs), thus keeping the stock market healthy compared to its global peers.

This sustained DII activity came as the cumulative foreign portfolio investor (FPI) selling in equity through the Indian stock exchanges stood at Rs 102,931 crore (till October 24).

So far, the DII investments have been around Rs 4.41 lakh crore, with two more months to go, driven by growing retail participation through mutual funds.

Earlier, the highest recorded monthly DII inflows were registered in March this year, at about Rs 56,356 crore.

According to market experts, DII inflows are a result of SIP contributions alongside insurance and retirement fund flows.

FPIs are likely to continue their selling in the near-term since the market sentiment has turned weak due to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the uncertainty regarding the outcome of the US presidential elections.

Going forward, domestic macros are largely favouring the market with the unveiling of strong Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data and strong economic growth forecast by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for FY25. The resilience of recent manufacturing data suggests the plausibility of an economic recovery in H2 FY25, which should encourage investors to accumulate quality stocks, said experts.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 4,613 crore on October 30, while domestic institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 4,518 crore on the same day.

A significant trend in the market is the strong stock-specific action.

Better-than-expected results are responded with sharp moves up to 20 per cent a day while worse-than-expected results are met with around 15 per cent correction.

According to experts, this trend of strongly rewarding good results and punishing poor results equally strongly is a reflection of the focus on stock-specific action rather than focus on the benchmark indices and market as a whole.

  • Samsung Electronics Signals Progress In HBM Chip Supply To Nvidia |

Seoul: Samsung Electronics on Thursday hinted at the possibility of supplying its advanced high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to the US AI giant Nvidia in the near future.

The South Korean tech giant has been struggling to have its HBM3E chips pass Nvidia’s quality tests, while its local chip making rival SK hynix recently began mass-producing industry-leading 12-layer HBM3E chips, Yonhap news agency reported.

“We are currently mass-producing both eight-layer and 12-layer HBM3E products,” said Kim Jae-june, vice president for memory business at Samsung Electronics, during a conference call following the release of its third-quarter earnings report.

Kim noted that the company has achieved “meaningful progress” in meeting quality testing requirements for a “major customer,” expected to be Nvidia, whose GPUs are essential for AI computing.

“We expect to expand sales in the fourth quarter,” he added, addressing previous concerns that Samsung Electronics had fallen behind in supplying HBM products to Nvidia.

Samsung Electronics reported that its third-quarter HBM sales rose more than 70 per cent from the previous quarter, with the fifth-generation HBM3E chips expected to contribute 50 per cent of total HBM sales in the fourth quarter.

“We are expanding sales of our eight- and 12-layer HBM3E chips to multiple customers,” the company said. “We are working on improving our HBM3E in line with the next-generation GPU plans of a major customer.”

Samsung Electronics said it is developing sixth-generation HBM4 products and aims to begin mass production in the second half of next year.

In its third-quarter earnings report, Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor division posted a 3.86 trillion won ($2.8 billion) operating profit, missing the market expectation of 4.2 trillion won.

Shares of Samsung Electronics rose 0.17 per cent to close at 59,200 won on the Seoul main bourse, outperforming the KOSPI’s 1.45 per cent drop.

  • Rare birds of South East Asia seen in Chhattisgarh…help in cleaning garbage

Amit Pandey, Khairagarh. There are about 11 thousand species of birds around the world. But today we are going to tell you about a bird which does very important work for nature. We are talking about the Lesser Adjutant Stork bird. These are very rare species of birds which work to clean natural waste. These days, the courtyard of farmer Thakur Singh of Navapara Khurd village of Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh has become the favorite destination of this rare Laser Adjutant Stroke.

Let us tell you that Lesser Adjutant Stork birds are mainly found in the marshy areas and wetlands of South-East Asia. They help maintain balance in the environment by eating small dead animals along with fish, hence they are also called natural “trash-cleaning birds”. Due to declining numbers, it has been placed in the “vulnerable” category of the IUCN, and efforts are underway for its conservation.

There is a nest in the farmer’s courtyard for 15 years

For the last 15 years, these protected birds have been making their nests on the trees in Thakur Singh’s courtyard. Thakur Singh and the people of the village not only take care of them but also protect them from poachers. Thakur Singh happily gives up thousands of rupees of profit from the Semar fruit for these birds, his love for the environment is very commendable.

Lesser Adjutant Stork was first seen in 2018

For the first time in Chhattisgarh, in 2018, A M K Bharos and D. Dewan published a report on the residence of this rare bird in this village, in which it was found that four nests were made on the banyan tree in the courtyard of Thakur Singh. Now in 2024, a new report, published in Ambient Science by Prateek Thakur, Ravi Naidu, Dr. Himanshu Gupta and AM K Bharos, has revealed another shocking fact. Now these stork birds and bats (Indian Flying Fox) are roosting on the same tree. The stork has made its nest in the upper part of the tree, and the lower part is inhabited by bats. This scene is thrilling bird lovers and scientists.

    Shocking fact of new study

The authors doing the research believe that the residence of these two species on the same tree can have both positive and negative effects on both. There is a need for deep scientific study of this situation so that the causes and effects of this unusual interaction can be understood.

    decline in bird numbers

A decline in the number of Lesser Adjutant Strake nests is being seen in this area. While their number was five in 2017, it has come down to two from 2022 to 2024. Experts believe that these birds change their nesting sites every few years, hence there is a need for survey in the surrounding areas so that these protected birds can be tracked and taken care of.

    Village’s big message regarding nature

This small village of Chhattisgarh is giving a big message today. Providing a safe haven to these precious birds by sacrificing natural resources has become a symbol of the strong partnership between humans and nature. In this study, a unique sight was observed in Chhattisgarh, rare Lesser Adjutant Stork and bat (Indian Flying Fox) living on the same tree. These birds have been making their nests in Thakur Singh’s courtyard for the last 15 years, and recently more than 250 bats have also started living in this courtyard. This habitat is special, because these two species usually live separately. The regular flight behavior of bats may help protect the nests of these birds. Researchers believe that further study is necessary to understand the advantages and disadvantages of living with them.

  • India, China Reach ‘Broad Consensus’ For LAC Disengagement, Says Rajnath Singh |

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Thursday that India and China have reached a “broad consensus” on restoring ground conditions along specific areas of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). “India and China have been holding talks at both diplomatic and military levels to resolve the differences in some areas along the LAC,” Singh said.

“As a result of these talks, a broad consensus was developed on the basis of equal and mutual security. The consensus includes the rights of patrolling and grazing in traditional areas. Based on this consensus, the process of disengagement is almost complete. Our efforts will be to take the matter beyond disengagement but for that, we will have to wait a little longer.”

The remarks followed Singh’s virtual inauguration of two new monuments in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, including the “Desh ka Vallabh” statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the Major Ralengnao “Bob” Khathing “Museum of Valour.” While Singh initially intended to attend the event in Tawang, poor weather kept him stationed at the 4 Corps Headquarters in Tezpur, Assam.

The event fittingly coincided with both Diwali and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrated on October 31 to honor India’s first Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Recognizing Patel’s significant role in unifying over 560 princely states post-Independence, Singh lauded the statue’s potential to “inspire people, reminding them of the strength in unity and the unwavering spirit required to build a nation as diverse as ours.”

Singh also paid tribute to Major Bob Khathing, whose efforts in peacefully integrating Tawang into India were instrumental. Major Khathing’s contributions, including founding the Sashastra Seema Bal, Nagaland Armed Police, and the Naga Regiment, were highlighted as integral to the region’s security framework. “The ‘Museum of Valour’ now stands as a tribute to his bravery and foresight, inspiring generations to come,” Singh noted.

Turning to the broader vision for the Northeast, Singh reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to ensuring holistic economic and infrastructural development in the region. “Holistic development of the nation is possible only when the Northeast prospers. We will create such a Northeast which is strong and prosperous not only naturally and culturally but also economically,” he emphasized.

He commended the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for its efforts in developing the region, specifically pointing to the Sela Tunnel, linking Assam and Tawang, as a crucial step for connectivity. Singh underscored that the 2,000-km Arunachal Frontier Highway project would “play a major role in connecting the entire Northeast region, especially the border areas,” providing significant strategic and economic benefits.

Acknowledging the Armed Forces’ engagement in the Northeast, Singh applauded their efforts beyond security, from National Cadet Corps (NCC) initiatives and local economic support to critical disaster relief. “Armed Forces not only provide security but also become a medium for development in that region by cooperating with the people of the border areas,” he said, reiterating India’s commitment to fostering peace, development, and security across the Northeast.

The inauguration drew high-profile attendees, including the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd), Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Manipur’s Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Chowna Mein, and Major Bob Khathing’s family.

The event was joined virtually by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Lt Gen R.C. Tewari of the Eastern Command, and GOC 4 Corps Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, along with other senior civil and military officials who celebrated this momentous occasion alongside the Defence Minister.
