  • WhatsApp New Feature: Now Filter Chats With Customized Lists –Check How To Use It |

    New Delhi: Meta-owned WhatsApp on Thursday made it easier to organize messages filling up users’ inbox, which will help them keep track of conversations with family members, work colleagues, college friends and more.

    Earlier this year, the popular messaging platform introduced chat filters as a way to find messages faster.

    “We’ve had great feedback that they help you keep track of your chats, and we’re excited to have quickly evolved them into Lists,” said the social media company.

    How To Filter Chats With Customized Lists On WhatsApp

    With Lists, you can now filter your chats with custom categories of your choice. Whether that’s a list for family, work or your local neighborhood, Lists help you focus on the conversations that are most important, when you need them.

    “You can create and edit your lists easily by tapping the + in the filter bar at the top of your Chats tab, or edit by long-pressing a list,” said WhatsApp.

    Similar to your ‘favorites’, you can add both groups and one-on-one chats to a list, and any list you create will appear in the filter bar.

    “We’re rolling Lists out to users today, and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. We look forward to expanding the functionality of Lists to help you focus on the people and conversations that matter most,” the company informed.

    By default, WhatsApp will still open to the “All” category, which displays all messages in chronological order.

    Notably, WhatsApp already had a way to look at unread messages through a filter in the search bar. But with the new filter bubbles on top of the chat screen, the option is easily available.

    Gmail users might find these filter bubbles familiar as the Google-owned email service introduced a similar feature in 2020 to make search simpler.

  • Delhi Sees ‘Very Poor’ Air Quality Post Diwali Celebrations As Smog Blankets Capital, Check AQI |

    Delhi Air Quality: The residents of Delhi woke up to ‘very poor’ air quality a day after Diwali celebrations as a thick layer of smog covered parts of the national capital on Friday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Most areas in the capital recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) over 350, signalling hazardous air, which can possibly raise health concerns for residents.

    At around 8:00 am, Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 396, Aya Nagar stood at 396, Jahangirpuri at 390, and Dwarka reached 376. All these areas reported ‘very poor’ air quality levels, posing significant health risks.

    Expressing concern over deteriorating air quality in the capital, Cyclist Stephen, passing through India Gate, where the AQI stood around 317 post-Diwali, said, “Because of the pollution, terrible things are happening. The pollution came on very suddenly this time. Just a few days ago, there was nothing, and now my brother has fallen sick. I used to come here to cycle with my brother, but he has been severely affected by the pollution lately. And today, the pollution is extreme.”

    “There were so many fireworks and other things yesterday that I couldn’t even sleep. We’ve been really troubled; my brother is in terrible shape. What else can we do? It’s taking a toll on his body–his throat hurts, it’s hard to breathe, he has a cold, and his eyes are irritated. There’s so much; we don’t even know everything that’s happening. While cycling, it’s hard to keep our eyes open,” he further stated.

    “I came here to go cycling, but now it’s a big problem. There’s a lot of coughing, and I’m having trouble cycling. This pollution is much worse, especially due to the fireworks, bombs, and kids playing with firecrackers. It’s even affecting vehicles, and it’s really bad. It could lead to cancer or other serious illnesses,” another cyclist, John, told ANI.

  • Soldier charged with murder in sergeant’s Missouri death

    A soldier has been charged with murder in the death of a fellow service member at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, the Army announced Thursday.

    The Army Office of Special Trial Counsel charged the 21-year-old Spc. Wooster Rancy on Wednesday with murder and obstructing justice in the death of Sgt. Sarah Roque, 23.     But Army investigators have released few other details about what happened, including the cause of Roque’s death or a possible motive.

    Officials said the suspect is from North Miami, Florida, and joined the Army in 2022. He serves as a combat engineer with the 509th Clearance Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, and conducted basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood. He is being held in pretrial confinement and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.

    New Delhi: In a landmark move advancing India’s digital connectivity goals, the state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has successfully deployed more than 50,000 indigenous 4G sites nationwide, the Ministry of Communications announced.

    “Under the Government’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has successfully deployed more than 50,000 indigenous 4G sites nationwide, significantly advancing India’s digital connectivity goals,” said the ministry.

    This deployment, in collaboration with Indian tech giants like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tejas Networks, the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), and ITI Ltd., showcases the strength of India’s homegrown technology in fulfilling the country’s connectivity needs. . Designed, developed, and implemented entirely by Indian companies, BSNL’s 4G network embodies the concept of “Poorn Swadeshi” (Completely Indigenous) innovation, ushering in a new era for telecom in India, the ministry added.

    As of October 29, 2024, BSNL has installed over 50,000 sites, of which more than 41,000 are now operational, with nearly 36,747 sites established under the Phase IX.2 of the project and 5,000 sites under the 4G Saturation Project funded by Digital Bharat Nidhi. Fund erstwhile Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF). These efforts are bolstering BSNL’s goal to deploy over 1,00,000 4G sites, a testament to its swift pace of expansion.
