In a shocking turn of events in Bihar’s Vaishali district, sub-inspector Suman Jha has been dismissed from service following serious allegations of corruption. DIG Chanjan Kushwaha took the decisive action against the officer posted at Lalganj police station, citing embezzlement of gold, silver jewelry, and nearly 15 lakh rupees in cash from a dacoity case.
The dismissal order, issued on March 7, 2026, has sent ripples through the police department. Jha’s troubles began earlier when he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 11,000 rupees in Muzaffarpur’s Shivaipatti police station in September 2024. The Vigilance team swooped in, leading to his arrest and subsequent jail time.
Even after bail, departmental proceedings continued. An inquiry by subdivisional police officer Manoj Singh confirmed the bribery charges. But the latest scandal involves a January raid on a dacoity suspect’s home in Lalganj, where 10 kg of gold and silver ornaments and 15 lakh in cash vanished. Jha, along with the then-station house officer Santosh Kumar and others, stands accused of misappropriating the seized items.
Complainant Pawan Kumar had tipped off the surveillance team in Patna about Jha’s bribe demands. The Vigilance operation that followed exposed the officer’s greed. With multiple FIRs now against him, including the embezzlement case, Jha’s career is in ruins. This stern action underscores the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, serving as a warning to others in uniform.
