In a moment of immense pride for Bihar’s Vaishali district, two young men have triumphed in the highly competitive UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. Ujjwal Priyank, hailing from Bidupur Dilawaripur Purvi Tola, clinched the All India 10th rank, while Abhishek Kumar from Hajipur’s Digghi Paschimi secured the 102nd position. Their success stories are inspiring thousands, turning them into beacons of hope for aspirants across the nation.
Ujjwal’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. Born to engineer Sanjeev Kumar, who also manages thriving fruit orchards including mangoes, Ujjwal has been a consistent topper since childhood. He completed his schooling from Niketan School in Patna for Class 10 and St. Michael’s School in Digha for Class 12, both under CBSE board. Pursuing his passion for technology, he earned a B.Tech in Computer Science from Jaipur Engineering College.
This victory marks Ujjwal’s third attempt at the UPSC, a testament to his perseverance. ‘I am overjoyed. I just hoped to see my name in the list, but securing 10th rank nationwide was beyond my dreams,’ Ujjwal shared. He credits his parents, Lord Dwarkadhish, and Radha Rani for this achievement. Vaishali District Magistrate Varsha Singh honored him with a bouquet and memento at her office, amid celebrations that saw crowds thronging his home.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Kumar’s story highlights sacrifice and determination. Son of Abhay Kumar, a former professor at Raj Narayan College in Hajipur and now Registrar at Nalanda Open University, Abhishek originally hails from Samastipur’s Mohaddinnagar but resides in Hajipur. He aced his Class 10 at Ramakrishna Mission School in Purulia and Class 12 in Hajipur. Cracking IIT, he completed engineering and worked at a multinational firm before quitting to focus on UPSC preparation from home.
Achieving success on his second try, Abhishek emphasizes the role of books and online resources. His home buzzed with relatives, friends, and fireworks celebrating the news. ‘My parents’ unwavering support made this possible,’ he said gratefully. Both Ujjwal and Abhishek exemplify how grit, family backing, and strategic preparation can conquer the UPSC fortress, motivating the next generation of civil service hopefuls.
