Patna is witnessing a robust campaign against unauthorized advertising hoardings and banners across Bihar. In a sweeping action spanning 38 districts and 264 urban bodies, authorities have recovered over 20 lakh rupees in penalties from more than 11,000 violations.
Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has vowed to treat illegal advertisers as economic offenders undermining state revenue. These syndicates, he noted, are systematically depriving the government of rightful dues through unauthorized displays in cities.
Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation led the charge by filing FIRs against 10 establishments and collecting fines exceeding 19 lakh rupees. In Darbhanga, teams seized materials from illegal sites, while Muzaffarpur dismantled 55 such hoardings. Begusarai removed seven and issued notices to 71 others.
Patna itself has seen over 200 actions, with 250 more notices for removals. Pataliputra zone cleared 59 hoardings, and Kankarbagh issued 89 notices. The drive prioritizes city beautification, traffic flow, and public safety across all six zones.
Scientific surveys guide the removal of unipoles and hoardings at identified spots. Following Sinha’s directives, Patna Municipal Corporation launched a major offensive against 54 advertising agencies owing 107.12 crore rupees. Notices have been dispatched demanding immediate payment.
This sustained campaign signals Bihar’s zero-tolerance policy, aiming to restore urban aesthetics and bolster municipal revenues for better infrastructure.
