Patna’s political landscape is buzzing with anticipation as Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, gears up for his formal entry into the Janata Dal (United). Sources indicate he will officially join the party on March 8, following a series of high-level meetings with senior JD(U) leaders.
On Saturday, Nishant met with key figures, including members of the JD(U) Political Advisory Committee. Party leader Moni Singh confirmed the upcoming induction, stating that elaborate preparations are underway. Posters welcoming Nishant have sprung up across Patna, signaling strong grassroots enthusiasm. ‘The party will gain significant strength with his arrival,’ Singh remarked, highlighting the excitement among cadres.
The previous night, Nishant had visited the residence of JD(U) National General Secretary Sanjay Kumar Jha. There, he held discussions with young MLAs and senior leaders, focusing on organizational strategies, government schemes, and sustaining Nitish Kumar’s governance model. Young legislators voiced their perspectives, underscoring a generational shift within the party.
Insiders suggest Nishant will play a pivotal role in shaping future strategies, bolstering the organization’s structure, and engaging the youth wing. This development comes after initial discontent within JD(U) ranks over Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha nomination, which saw protests from workers demanding a rethink.
Nitish addressed party legislators, MPs, MLCs, and seniors in a meeting on Friday, where the decision to bring Nishant into active politics received the green light. As Bihar’s assembly elections loom, Nishant’s entry could reshape the political dynamics, infusing fresh energy into the ruling alliance.
