New Delhi is set for a major infrastructure boost as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth approximately ₹33,500 crore on Sunday. This announcement from the Chief Minister’s office signals a transformative phase for the national capital’s urban mobility.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta personally oversaw the preparations on Saturday, ensuring everything is in place for the high-profile event. Among the key highlights are two new corridors on the Delhi Metro network. The first extends the Pink Line from Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur, promising seamless connectivity across bustling neighborhoods. The second corridor on the Magenta Line connects Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park, easing daily commutes for millions.

PM Modi will also initiate Phase 5A projects, including the Central Vista Corridor from R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, spanning 9.9 kilometers underground with nine new stations. Additional extensions like the Golden Line from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 and from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj will further integrate key transit points.

The Majlis Park-Maujpur-Babarpur section, stretching 12.3 kilometers with eight elevated stations, completes a vital link in the existing Pink Line from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. Upon completion, the Pink Line will total 71.56 kilometers, positioning Delhi as home to India’s first fully operational ring metro.

This ambitious rollout not only addresses congestion but also underscores the government’s commitment to world-class public transport. CM Gupta, who inspected sites earlier too, expressed enthusiasm on social media, welcoming PM Modi with pride and anticipation. These projects are poised to redefine Delhi’s skyline and mobility landscape for years to come.
