In a tale that embodies unwavering determination, Juhi Das from Kishanganj’s Khagra area has secured the 649th rank in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination. Her achievement has sparked celebrations across the district, with well-wishers showering her with congratulations.

Juhi, daughter of the late Niwaran Das and Annika Das, residents of Khagra Prempul, clinched this success on her fourth attempt. She had reached the interview stage in her second and third tries but missed the final list. This time, triumph was hers.

Her story is one of profound resilience. Just ten days before her UPSC interview on February 24, her father passed away on February 13 due to illness. Undeterred, Juhi performed her father’s last rites, including lighting the funeral pyre, completed the shraddh rituals at home, and then headed straight for the interview in Delhi. ‘I couldn’t let my father’s dreams down,’ she shared emotionally.

Educationally, Juhi excelled early on. She scored a stellar 9.4 CGPA in her Class 10 exams from Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School in 2015. In 2017, she achieved 92% in Intermediate from Chaitanya, Visakhapatnam, followed by a B.Tech from Kolkata.

Her father ran a motor parts shop nearby, while her mother works as a Nyay Mitra. Juhi credits her mother as her biggest inspiration for UPSC preparation. Remarkably, she relied mostly on self-study, occasionally using online notes from coaching institutes, guided by Sapna Kumar Das and Sushobhan Das.

With this rank, Juhi is poised for services like IPS or IRS. The community rallies behind her, wishing her a bright future in public service. Her journey from grief to glory inspires countless aspirants nationwide.
