In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has apprehended two underage brothers who had been evading capture for nearly a month in a brutal murder attempt case in Jahangirpuri. The suspects, aged 15 and 17, were nabbed from their local area after a meticulous operation involving human intelligence and technical surveillance.

The incident unfolded on February 6 in Jahangirpuri’s G-Block. Mukesh, a local resident, returned home from work to learn from his son that two neighboring boys had slapped him without provocation. Enraged, Mukesh and his brother confronted the boys at their nearby shanty. What started as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into violence.

According to police reports, the two minors drew knives and launched a ferocious attack. Mukesh’s brother suffered severe stab wounds to his shoulder and abdomen, while Mukesh sustained injuries to his hand while trying to intervene. The victims were rushed to a hospital, and a case of attempt to murder was registered at Jahangirpuri police station.

The accused fled the scene immediately and went underground. A special Crime Branch team, led by Inspector Sandeep Swamy under the supervision of ACP Girish Kaushik, was formed to track them down. The team, comprising SI Pradeep Dhul, SI Anil Saroha, SI Ravi Rana, ASI Sunil, and others, utilized informant tips and surveillance tech to pinpoint their location.

In a swift operation, the duo was arrested right in Jahangirpuri. During interrogation, they confessed to their roles in the crime. Investigations revealed the brothers, locals with limited education— one up to class 8, the other class 6— come from a family of five brothers, with their father working as a laborer in Delhi. Police suspect the attack was motivated by a desire to establish dominance in the neighborhood.

Authorities continue their probe, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb juvenile delinquency in high-risk areas. This arrest underscores the effectiveness of coordinated police strategies in tackling serious crimes involving minors.
