In a strong display of international solidarity, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has publicly condemned the recent deadly strikes by the United States and Israel on Tehran. Speaking directly to Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Anwar expressed profound sympathy for the Iranian people amid their grief.

The Malaysian leader took to social media platform X to detail his phone conversation, underscoring Malaysia’s unwavering support. ‘I conveyed Malaysia’s sympathy and solidarity with the people of Iran during this very difficult time,’ he stated. He specifically mourned the loss of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 165 schoolchildren, and countless others in what he described as a blatant violation of sovereignty.

Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s firm opposition to any military aggression that infringes on national borders. He highlighted the broader implications of the prolonged conflict, warning of its detrimental effects on global peace and stability. ‘We have once again expressed our deep concern over the impact of this ongoing conflict,’ he added.

Calling for immediate diplomatic intervention, the PM urged both sides to de-escalate tensions and pursue peaceful resolutions. The discussion also touched on the enduring Palestinian issue, emphasizing the need for the international community to prioritize regional harmony.

This comes as Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian held parallel talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Moscow’s Foreign Ministry reported Putin’s condolences for the fallen leaders and civilians, while advocating for swift de-escalation through diplomacy rather than force.

As world leaders rally against the strikes, the incident underscores deepening geopolitical divides in the Middle East, with calls growing louder for restraint and dialogue to prevent further catastrophe.
