New Delhi witnessed a sharp increase in LPG prices on Saturday, with domestic cylinders rising by Rs 60 and commercial ones by Rs 114.5. This adjustment has sparked widespread reactions from consumers across India, highlighting the strain on household budgets and small businesses.

In Ayodhya, a local woman expressed her frustration, questioning how families can cope when every essential item’s cost keeps climbing. ‘The government claims to support the poor, but these hikes make survival tougher,’ she said. Another resident acknowledged the necessity despite the burden, noting that even minor daily tasks now feel the pinch of inflation.

The sentiment echoes beyond homes. A third individual drew parallels with petrol prices, emphasizing that such commodities are unavoidable. ‘We can’t function without them; rising costs leave us no choice,’ he remarked.

In Nashik, Maharashtra, traders are reeling from the blow. Roshni Kulkarni urged the government to reconsider the hike amid ongoing economic struggles, warning that it disrupts monthly budgets. Savita Dixit echoed this, calling for urgent attention as the surge throws household finances into disarray.

According to Indian Oil Corporation, the unsubsidized 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi now costs Rs 913, up from Rs 853. This marks the second hike in less than a year. Commercial cylinders have seen a per-unit increase of Rs 114.5.

Experts attribute the revision to volatile global energy markets, fueled by escalating military tensions in the Middle East. These conflicts have disrupted supply chains, raising concerns over oil and gas stability worldwide.

As prices climb, consumers brace for tougher times ahead. The government faces mounting pressure to balance energy security with affordability for millions reliant on LPG for cooking and operations.
