BIDAR, March 7 – Karnataka’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge launched a sharp critique against the central government, accusing it of inflicting massive financial losses on the state through its policies. Speaking to reporters, Kharge announced a series of development initiatives set for inauguration and foundation laying in Chittapur town, Kalaburagi district, this Sunday.
High-profile attendees will include Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. The events highlight the state government’s commitment to cultural and spiritual heritage projects.
Kharge detailed plans for the Anubhava Mantapa and Vachana Mandapa in Kalaburagi. ‘The government is personally overseeing the development of Anubhava Mantapa, and similarly, Vachana Mandapa in Kalaburagi,’ he said. Addressing potential concerns, he assured, ‘If any flaws or irregularities are found, they will certainly be identified and rectified.’
He emphasized a pragmatic approach: ‘Neither I nor you have full details on the exact rules or implementation procedures yet. Rushing to label the project wrong without clarity is unfair. In my view, complete regulations haven’t been issued. Yesterday’s budget mentioned it under PPP model – what’s wrong with that?’
The Vachana Mandapa project aims to showcase the sacred vachanas (verses) of Basavanna and other thinkers to the world. Meanwhile, land for Anubhava Mantapa – a replica of the 12th-century religious complex founded by Basavanna – has been earmarked, with construction to commence soon.
This initiative underscores Karnataka’s push to preserve and promote its Lingayat heritage amid ongoing political debates over funding and central-state relations. As development accelerates, Kharge’s statements signal the government’s readiness to adapt and perfect these landmark projects.
