New Delhi is gearing up for an exhilarating celebration of health and fitness as the second edition of the Fit India Carnival launches this Sunday at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Timed perfectly with International Women’s Day on March 8, this three-day extravaganza from March 8 to 10 promises to ignite a nationwide passion for active lifestyles.
The event follows the successful completion of the 64th Fit India Sundays on Cycle at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. This year’s spotlight shines brightly on women athletes, influencers, and fitness champions, making it a tribute to female empowerment through sports and wellness.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Secretary (Sports) Hari Ranjan Rao, and other dignitaries will formally inaugurate Fit India Carnival 2.0. Day one features celebrities like evergreen actor and model Milind Soman, acclaimed actresses Ragini Dwivedi, Aishwarya Raj, and Tarun Khanna, known for their roles in the TV series ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’. Joining them are mental health expert and coach Dr. Riri Trivedi, alongside a host of fitness experts, athletes, and wellness specialists.
Elite athletes such as heptathlete and Asian Games bronze medalist Nandini Agasra, judoka Garima Chaudhary, chess Woman Grandmaster and Fit India champion Tania Sachdev, para-athlete Simran, and fencer Taniksha Khatri will share inspiring stories from their journeys, motivating the youth to embrace sports.
Designed for inclusivity, the carnival welcomes senior citizens and differently-abled individuals with accessible features. Attendees can enjoy cultural performances, flash mobs, and interactive sessions on health, discipline, and mental well-being led by athletes and fitness leaders. Game zones, fitness stations, and activity stalls cater to all ages, turning exercise into fun and engaging experiences.
Students from schools and colleges, working professionals, women from all walks of life, and families with kids’ zones will participate actively. Live music bands will add vibrancy each day. Launched on August 29, 2019, the Fit India Movement aims to transform behaviors, encouraging every citizen to incorporate at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity into their routines for a healthier nation.
