In a historic milestone for Indian industry, the Adani Group has been selected as the official partner for World Engineering Day 2026, organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) under UNESCO auspices. This marks the first time an Indian entity has been chosen to honor engineers’ contributions to sustainable development on this global platform.

Ahmedabad-based Adani, India’s leading developer in transport, utilities, and infrastructure, embodies the ethos of clean energy transformation. The partnership underscores the group’s prowess in delivering large-scale, reliable, and affordable clean power, bolstering India’s energy security while advancing UN Sustainable Development Goal 7.

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, emphasized, “We’re proving that clean energy can be both scalable and affordable, powerful yet inclusive. This is India’s gift to the world—a model where progress and sustainability march hand in hand.” He spotlighted the Khavda Renewable Energy Plant in Gujarat as a beacon of India’s climate action, showcasing the synergy between Adani Green Energy, Adani Energy Solutions, and Adani New Industries.

The theme for WED 2026, ‘Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalization,’ aligns seamlessly with Adani’s innovations in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and massive transport systems. These efforts demonstrate how technology-driven engineering turns sustainability into reality.

WFEO has highlighted Khavda as a flagship example of India’s green transition in its WED 2026 program, featuring a short film on its colossal scale and impact. Spanning 538 square kilometers—five times the size of Paris or akin to Mumbai—the project boasts a planned capacity of 30 GW by 2029. Upon completion, it will be the world’s largest power plant across all energy sources.

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has already operationalized over 7 GW at Khavda, with the full 30 GW slated for 2029. This achievement not only cements Adani’s leadership but also positions India as a global frontrunner in renewable energy engineering.

As nations race toward net-zero goals, Adani’s partnership with UNESCO signals a new era where engineering excellence drives planetary progress. The world watches as this Indian powerhouse redefines sustainable infrastructure.
