In a seismic shift in Bihar’s political landscape, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar is poised to make his formal entry into politics. A crucial JD(U) meeting at the CM’s residence sealed the decision with unanimous approval, paving the way for Nishant’s induction into the party tomorrow. This comes as Nitish prepares to file his nomination for Rajya Sabha, signaling a potential end to his two-decade stint as Bihar’s chief minister.

The gathering of MLAs, MPs, and ministers heard Nitish assure them of his continued oversight from Delhi. ‘I’ll be heading to Rajya Sabha, but we’ll stay rooted in Bihar. Development work won’t stop,’ he declared, urging partymen to push forward aggressively. JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar echoed the sentiment, affirming the party’s full backing for Nitish’s vision, crediting him with building the outfit from the ground up.

Executive President and Union Minister Lalan Singh threw his weight behind Nishant, calling his political debut timely and necessary. Party heavyweights Sanjay Jha and Shrawan Kumar confirmed the move, noting Nishant’s membership formalities are all set. Speculation is rife that Nishant could step into the Deputy CM role, ensuring JD(U)’s dominance over its core Kurmi-Koeri vote base while Nitish pivots to national politics.

A software engineering graduate from BIT Mesra, Nishant has largely shunned the spotlight, known for his introspective and spiritual leanings. Yet, his entry has sparked jubilation at JD(U) headquarters, with sweets and celebrations marking the occasion. Critics from the opposition RJD label it a dynastic U-turn, but loyalists see Nishant as the glue to hold the party united amid internal tensions.

As Nitish eyes a bigger role in New Delhi, eyes are on tomorrow’s induction ceremony, rumored to draw top NDA brass including Amit Shah. With the CM post possibly going to a BJP leader from EBC or OBC ranks, Bihar’s power dynamics are set for a dramatic realignment, promising fresh momentum for the NDA alliance.
