In a significant breakthrough against cross-border crime, Punjab Police has dismantled a major illegal arms smuggling network operating from Pakistan. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested five suspects and one juvenile in a targeted operation near the border.

Authorities recovered five sophisticated pistols from their possession, including a Glock 9mm, PX5 .30 bore, Taurus 9mm, Greta 9mm made in Pakistan, and another .30 bore pistol. Additionally, 34 live cartridges and a sharp weapon were seized.

Punjab DGP took to social media platform X to share details, revealing that preliminary investigations point to the accused being in contact with Pakistani arms traffickers via social media. The weapons were smuggled across the border covertly and supplied to various regions in India.

An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at Makboolpura Police Station in Amritsar. Police are probing deeper connections to unravel the entire syndicate. The DGP emphasized Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to curbing illegal arms trafficking and organized crime.

This bust follows a similar operation on February 28, where Amritsar police cracked two organized modules smuggling drugs and arms from across the border. That raid led to 10 arrests, seizure of 5.438 kg heroin, three high-end pistols (Glock 9mm, Zigana 9mm, 32 bore), 34 live rounds, and Rs 4,500 in cash. Investigations there also uncovered social media links to Pakistan-based handlers distributing contraband through a precise network.

These successive strikes highlight the growing vigilance along Punjab’s porous border, where smugglers exploit digital platforms to orchestrate illicit trades threatening national security. Punjab Police vows to intensify efforts, ensuring no stone is left unturned in neutralizing such threats.
