Jerusalem’s leadership has issued a stark alert amid escalating tensions with Iran. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced the activation of the National Security Council (NSC) to safeguard Israeli citizens overseas. The move comes as intelligence points to heightened terrorist threats targeting Jews and Israelis worldwide.

In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized the gravity of the situation. ‘Terrorist elements are actively plotting to harm Israelis abroad,’ it stated. The NSC urged all Israelis and Jews living or traveling overseas to maintain utmost vigilance and adhere strictly to security protocols.

The advisory follows the launch of Operation ‘Roaring Lion,’ which has provoked a surge in Iranian-backed activities. Reports indicate Iranian security agencies are orchestrating attacks on Israeli and Jewish sites globally. Direct assaults have also targeted neighboring nations like the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan, raising fears of strikes on Israeli interests in these volatile regions.

Recent incidents underscore the peril. On March 1, a lone gunman opened fire in Austin, Texas, targeting Israelis. Two days later, on March 3, gunfire erupted at Jewish locations in Toronto, with the attacker still at large. These ‘lone-wolf’ operations signal a disturbing trend.

The NSC has rolled out comprehensive guidelines for Israelis abroad. Travelers are advised to avoid transit flights via the UAE until further notice. Public displays of Jewish or Israeli symbols should be concealed. Extra caution is recommended in Iran, Gulf-bordering states, and destinations under existing travel alerts.

Further instructions include refraining from sharing real-time personal details on social media, steering clear of identifiable Jewish or Israeli venues, and staying hyper-aware in such areas. In case of threats, immediate contact with local security forces is mandated. Citizens are directed to consult the NSC’s official website for country-specific advice.

This heightened alert reflects Israel’s proactive stance in protecting its diaspora during a period of unprecedented regional instability. As conflicts intensify, the message is clear: safety demands constant awareness.
