Patna’s political landscape has shifted dramatically with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announcing his move to the Rajya Sabha. While the ruling camp applauds the decision, opposition leaders like RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav claim it’s the result of BJP pressure, forcing the veteran leader out of state politics.

In a pointed media interaction in Patna, Tejashwi expressed sympathy for Nitish, stating, ‘We stand with Nitish Kumar in full solidarity as he heads to Rajya Sabha. We know the pressures he’s under. Had we been by his side, he might not have faced this day.’ He accused the BJP of relentless arm-twisting, saying it was inevitable after years of service to Bihar.

Tejashwi recalled their alliance, noting how he served as Deputy CM twice under Nitish’s government. The split on January 28, 2024, he said, was baseless, with BJP aiming to dismantle JD(U). ‘Our hearts go out to him,’ Tejashwi added, predicting early on that post-election, BJP wouldn’t let Nitish retain the CM chair.

He criticized BJP’s stance on OBC, Dalit, and tribal leaders advocating justice, alleging they orchestrate such exits. On Nitish’s son Nishant entering politics, Tejashwi welcomed it, emphasizing the need for youth involvement. Nitish filed his Rajya Sabha nomination amid presence of Union Minister Amit Shah and state ministers, marking a new chapter in Bihar’s power dynamics.
