In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Jharkhand’s Pakur district, a 40-year-old man was brutally murdered with sharp weapons right outside his home on Holi. The gruesome attack unfolded in Talwadanga village under Nagar police station limits on Wednesday evening, turning a festive day into one of mourning.
Deoraj Sarkar had just returned home after celebrating Holi with friends in the afternoon. Around 4 PM, as he stood near his house, a group of 8 to 10 youths suddenly surrounded him. What began as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a violent brawl. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants repeatedly slashed Deoraj with sharp blades, leaving him critically injured in a pool of blood.
Deoraj’s father, Meghnath Sarkar, was present at the scene and witnessed the horrifying attack. He pleaded with the attackers to spare his son, but his cries went unheeded. Desperate for help, he called out to neighbors, but fear kept everyone at bay. As family members rushed the bleeding Deoraj to the Sadar Hospital, he breathed his last on the way.
Police arrived swiftly, securing the crime scene and sending the body for post-mortem. Initial investigations have identified the suspects, and raids are underway for their arrest. Station House Officer assured that a thorough probe will uncover the motive behind this senseless killing, despite family claims of no known enmity.
The village remains tense, with extra police deployment to maintain order. This tragic Holi violence raises serious concerns about public safety during festivals in rural Jharkhand.
