In a bold move to combat misinformation, Elon Musk’s X platform has unveiled stringent new policies targeting AI-generated war videos. Announced amid escalating global tensions involving the US, Israel, and Iran, these changes aim to safeguard users from deceptive content during sensitive times.

X’s Product Head Nikita Bier took to the platform to detail the updates to the Creator Revenue Sharing Program. With AI tools making hyper-realistic fakes easier than ever, the company is prioritizing authenticity. ‘We’re tightening policies to ensure reliable information reaches people during conflicts,’ Bier stated in a post.

The catalyst? A recent case in Pakistan where one individual operated 31 hacked accounts, flooding X with fabricated war footage. These accounts had their names altered to masquerade as legitimate sources, amplifying the spread of falsehoods.

Under the new rules, posting AI-made war videos without clear disclosure triggers a 90-day suspension from revenue sharing. Repeat offenders face permanent exclusion. To boost transparency, X is rolling out a ‘Made with AI’ label for such content, alerting users immediately.

This comes as rumors of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s death stoke further international anxiety. X reports record-breaking traffic, with users flocking for real-time updates. Company leaders, including Musk and Bier, emphasize the platform’s role in delivering trustworthy news amid chaos.

By enforcing these measures, X hopes to curb the viral spread of deepfakes, fostering a safer digital space where facts prevail over fiction. As geopolitical flashpoints multiply, such initiatives could redefine social media’s responsibility in crisis reporting.
