Patna buzzed with vibrant energy on Wednesday as Holi, the festival of colors, swept across Bihar in a wave of joy and revelry. From bustling city streets to quiet village lanes, groups of children and youths splashed colors, danced to folk tunes, and embraced the spirit of spring.
In a lively political twist, Bihar’s Agriculture Minister Ram Kumar Yadav joined hundreds of supporters at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan for a colorful Holi bash. The Danapur MLA, known for his connect with the masses, sang traditional Phagua songs and grooved to the beats, turning the historic ground into a sea of gulal and abeer.
The event, organized by the local morning walkers’ group—a tradition spanning 40 years—saw Minister Yadav showering Holi greetings on Bihar’s farmers, urging them to celebrate the harvest season with renewed vigor. ‘This is our annual ritual here, and today we rejoice together,’ he said amid cheers.
Across town, at former minister Tej Pratap Yadav’s residence on Harding Road, a grand Holi get-together unfolded. The RJD leader invited everyone on social media, promising live performances by a Vrindavan Rasleela team. ‘Holi symbolizes joy, renewal, and unity,’ he posted, evoking memories of his father Lalu Prasad Yadav’s legendary ‘kurta-phad’ Holi parties at the chief minister’s bungalow, where supporters playfully tore the CM’s shirt in exuberant fun.
As colors faded into the evening, Bihar’s Holi underscored a blend of cultural fervor and political camaraderie, setting a festive tone for the year ahead.
