Singapore’s WTT Smash tournament delivered edge-of-your-seat action on March 1, culminating in a Chinese sweep of the singles titles. Wang Chuqin dominated the men’s event, while Sun Yingsha showcased her supremacy in the women’s category.

In the women’s semifinals, Sun Yingsha faced teammate Chen Yi in a high-stakes clash. She powered through 4-1, displaying flawless consistency and aggressive forehand play that left her opponent scrambling. Meanwhile, Wang Manyu from China overcame Germany’s Sabine Winter with the same 4-1 scoreline, setting up an all-Chinese final.

The championship match was a six-game thriller. Sun Yingsha edged out Wang Manyu 4-2 after intense rallies and momentum swings. Post-match, Sun reflected on the grueling battle: ‘It was incredibly close; we both gave everything.’ She expressed satisfaction with her overall tournament performance, marking another milestone in her rising career.

Over in the men’s draw, Wang Chuqin rebounded spectacularly against France’s Felix Lebrun in the semis. After dropping the first game, he won the next four straight, 4-1, thanks to superior spin variation and footwork. The final was even more one-sided as he dismantled Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-ju 4-0, never allowing his opponent a foothold.

Wang credited his success to holistic improvements: ‘I’ve worked hard on my physical fitness, mental resilience, and technical skills lately.’ This victory not only boosts his confidence but also solidifies China’s stranglehold on table tennis supremacy. As the WTT circuit heats up, fans are already anticipating the next showdowns from these table tennis titans.
