Dhaka’s foreign ministry confirmed a heartbreaking toll on Bangladeshi expatriates amid escalating military clashes in the Middle East. At least two citizens lost their lives, and seven others sustained injuries in a series of missile and drone strikes across multiple nations.

The violence erupted following joint US-Israel strikes targeting Iran’s missile capabilities and military infrastructure. Tehran retaliated with attacks directed at several countries, heightening regional instability.

Saleh Ahmad, from Bangladesh’s Sylhet district, perished in Ajman, UAE, when debris from an airstrike crushed him. The Bangladesh embassy in the UAE is coordinating with local authorities to repatriate his body once commercial flights resume.

In Bahrain, another Bangladeshi died, with three injured. The mission in Manama remains in constant touch with officials there.

Kuwait saw four Bangladeshis—Aminul Islam, Rabiuul Islam, Masudur Rahman, and Dulal Miah—wounded near the civilian airport during a drone assault. All received prompt medical care and are now stable. The ambassador personally visited their hospital.

Compounding concerns, the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation vessel Banglar Joyjatra is stranded at Jebel Ali Port in UAE. The embassy assures all crew members are safe and maintains regular contact with the captain.

Bangladesh’s foreign ministry expressed profound alarm over the deteriorating West Asia situation, emphasizing the safety of over 6 million expatriates as its top priority. Embassies have issued advisories, urging strict adherence to host government guidelines amid the chaos.
