In a chilling incident from Bihar’s Vaishali district, a man brutally strangled his wife to death right in front of their young son. The murder, which has shocked the local community, stemmed from ongoing disputes over the woman’s social media reels. Just 24 hours before her death, the 32-year-old victim had posted a haunting video online, pleading for support and warning that her husband might kill her.
The tragedy unfolded in Neerpur village under Patepur police station limits. Anjali Chaudhary, originally from Pusa in Samastipur, had married her husband Kundal Sah five years ago in a love marriage that blossomed on Facebook. This was her second marriage; her first, 12 years prior, had produced two sons. Tensions between the couple frequently escalated over Anjali’s passion for creating Instagram reels, which Kundal disapproved of vehemently.
Eyewitness to the horror was their son, who recounted waking up to the sound of temple drums in the morning. He saw his father using a plastic rope to choke his mother mercilessly. ‘Papa had the rope around Mummy’s neck,’ the boy told investigators, his words piercing the silence of grief.
In her final video, Anjali’s voice trembled as she said, ‘He’ll kill me one day, then you all support me. Can’t you see this video? He’s left me penniless, starving me while he eats out.’ Her cries for help went unheeded until it was too late. Police swiftly arrested Kundal, recovering the murder weapon from nearby. Anjali’s family accuses Kundal’s relatives of complicity in the crime.
This wasn’t the first brush with violence. In 2023, Anjali had filed a case against Kundal, leading to his brief imprisonment. Authorities have taken the body for postmortem and are probing deeper into the domestic turmoil that ended in bloodshed. The incident underscores the dark side of domestic disputes amplified by social media pressures.
