Muzaffarpur’s markets are buzzing with Holi excitement as the festival of colors approaches. Streets overflow with vibrant stalls laden with gulal, colors, and an array of water guns. But amid the traditional revelry, one item has stolen the spotlight: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s face masks, now completely out of stock.

Shopkeepers in the famous Chhata Market, the wholesale hub for Holi essentials, report that ‘Modi Masks’ vanished from shelves nearly 10 days ago due to overwhelming demand. Vendors tried restocking from Delhi suppliers, but stocks there are depleted too.

‘This year, we’ve seen a shift from basic pichkaris to high-tech options,’ said Amit Kumar, a local trader. ‘High-pressure guns, tank-style squirters, and rechargeable electric pichkaris are flying off the shelves, especially among kids and youth. But nothing matched the craze for Modi Masks.’

Irshad Ahmad, another seller, echoed the sentiment. Unique toys and pump-action guns are popular, yet the Modi Masks sold out 10 days before Holi. A fresh shipment four days ago disappeared instantly.

Electric pichkaris with powerful sprays are the new trend, alongside ample stocks of gulal and other gear. As Muzaffarpur gears up for Holi, the Modi Mask mania highlights the prime minister’s enduring popularity even in festive fun.
