Mumbai’s glitz often hides humble beginnings, and Anil Kapoor’s story is a testament to that. During a recent episode of the popular gaming reality show ‘Wheel of Fortune’, the veteran actor opened up about his early struggles, captivating audiences with tales from his formative years.
Hosted by Akshay Kumar, the show welcomed Anil Kapoor as a special guest. In a candid conversation, Anil shared his first paycheck from 1976, earned from a performance at Doordarshan’s Worli studio. ‘Those Rs 250 were special,’ he recalled. ‘Seeing myself on the small screen for the first time was an emotional milestone. It gave me recognition and the confidence to pursue acting.’
Anil confessed he’s still searching for that old recording to relive his debut performance. The actor also reminisced about his college days, balancing studies with theatre. A pivotal moment came during his first play when Shashi Kapoor, the chief guest, handed him the Best Actor trophy. ‘That honor made me believe I could be an actor,’ Anil said. It inspired him to enroll in formal acting training.
The episode featured a puzzle referencing the iconic song ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’ from ‘Beta’. Anil humorously claimed, ‘The song belongs to Madhuri Dixit; I was just along for the ride.’ Akshay countered that it was equally Anil’s triumph. Delving deeper, Anil revealed the choreography by Saroj Khan, shot at RK Studio on the film’s last day. Despite grueling schedules—shooting two films daily and the song at night—the track exudes boundless energy.
