The Middle East crisis has plunged global air travel into chaos, with Dubai’s bustling international airport remaining closed for the third consecutive day. Over 3,000 flights have been grounded since the conflict escalated, stranding thousands of passengers worldwide.

Military actions by the US and Israel against Iran have triggered widespread airspace closures across Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel, Bahrain, UAE, and Qatar. Flight tracking data reveals a staggering toll: 2,800 cancellations on Saturday, 3,156 on Sunday, and 1,239 by Monday morning alone. Dubai, the world’s busiest hub, along with Abu Dhabi and Doha airports, either halted operations entirely or ran on skeleton schedules.

Major airlines are reeling under the pressure. Emirates suspended all flights to and from Dubai until 3 PM UAE time on Monday. Etihad Airways paused services to Abu Dhabi by 2 PM, while Qatar Airways halted operations due to Qatar’s airspace shutdown. The combined impact has rippled far beyond the region.

India feels the brunt too. Air India canceled multiple flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Amritsar to Europe and North America on Sunday. At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, 100 flights were scrapped, leaving connecting passengers—from Bali to Frankfurt—stranded in limbo.

Intensifying attacks, including strikes on US bases in Gulf countries by Iran and bombings in southern Beirut, have expanded no-fly zones. Crews and pilots scattered across borders face hurdles in resuming services even after airspace reopens.

Analysts warn of mounting financial losses for aviation as uncertainty drags on. This crisis, the worst since COVID-19, underscores how geopolitical tensions can paralyze global connectivity, affecting millions and reshaping travel plans indefinitely.
