In a shocking turn of events in Bihar’s Saharsa district, police officers from Dial 112 faced brutal assault by village women while attempting to rescue two young men held captive. The dramatic confrontation, captured on video, has gone viral across social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage and debate.
The incident unfolded in Hindupur village under Simri Bakhtiyarpur police station limits. On February 28, Dial 112 received a distress call reporting that Bhairav Kumar and Rahul Kumar, both residents of Sirade Patti in Kahra block, had been confined inside a house by locals. Responding swiftly, the police team rushed to the spot to free the hostages.
However, as the officers moved to secure the youths, a mob of villagers, allegedly instigated by a few individuals, unleashed chaos. Women from the crowd chased and thrashed the policemen relentlessly. Eyewitness accounts describe a frenzied scene where the officers were pelted with sticks and fists, forcing them to flee for safety.
According to police statements, the young men had allegedly entered a villager’s home and taken unauthorized photos, prompting the locals to lock them up. The viral footage, recorded by a bystander, shows the women dominating the scene, overpowering the law enforcers in a display of raw village fury.
Officer Ashif Anwar Khan, one of the victims, filed a formal complaint at Bakhtiyarpur police station, naming five accused and ten unidentified persons. An FIR has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The assault has sent shockwaves through the police department, prompting senior officials to assure strict action. ‘We will not tolerate attacks on our personnel. A thorough probe is in progress, and culprits will face the full force of the law,’ a senior officer declared.
This bizarre episode highlights simmering tensions between rural communities and law enforcement, raising questions about safety protocols for police on rescue missions. As the video continues to circulate, it serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable challenges officers face in the line of duty.
