New Delhi is buzzing with rumors, but the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has firmly put them to rest. A viral circular falsely claiming the cancellation of Class 10 and 12 board exams in Middle East countries has been exposed as fake. The board has clarified that exams are merely postponed in select regions due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, not scrapped entirely.

The deceptive document, circulating wildly on social media, alleged that exams in Middle Eastern nations were called off amid the Iran-Israel conflict. It promised students passing marks based on pre-board scores and internal assessments without sitting for the tests. CBSE acted swiftly, labeling it ‘completely fake and misleading.’

Exams kicked off on February 17 across India and 26 countries, including the Middle East, with over 4.3 million students participating. The first day saw Class 10 Maths and Class 12 Biotechnology papers conducted smoothly worldwide. So far, all sessions have proceeded without major hitches.

In a significant update, CBSE announced the postponement of March 2 exams in countries like Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. This decision stems from extraordinary global circumstances, particularly unrest in the region. Controller of Examinations Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj confirmed no cancellations have occurred. A review is scheduled for March 3, with decisions on exams from March 5 onward to follow based on the situation.

The board urged students, parents, and schools to rely solely on official websites for updates. Indian embassies in affected countries, including Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Muscat, Doha, Manama, Kuwait City, Tehran, and Dubai’s consulate, have been notified. CBSE has also warned against spreading rumors, stating legal action could be taken against those disseminating false information online.

Affiliated schools abroad are instructed to debunk the fake circular immediately. With exams vital for millions, maintaining accurate information is crucial. CBSE reaffirms its commitment to student welfare, promising new dates soon and ensuring fairness in rescheduling.
