Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Chennai on Saturday, kicking off a packed two-day tour across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. His itinerary blends major infrastructure unveilings with political outreach and a spiritual visit, signaling a strategic push ahead of key elections.

A warm reception awaited the Prime Minister at the airport, courtesy of Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Union Minister L Murugan, AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, and top BJP leaders. Flying in from Gujarat, Modi was greeted with traditional honors before heading to the Raj Bhavan for an overnight stay.

Sunday morning sees him in Puducherry, where he’ll headline an NDA rally and lay foundation stones for projects worth Rs 2,700 crore. These initiatives target better roads, public services, and overall infrastructure in the union territory, promising enhanced connectivity and economic growth.

Post-rally, Modi heads to Madurai in the afternoon for a whopping Rs 4,400 crore worth of projects. Expect inaugurations of vital road links, urban upgrades, and developments set to transform southern Tamil Nadu’s transport and urban landscape.

The highlight includes new four-lane highways connecting Madakkannam-Puducherry and Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram, slashing travel times and boosting trade and tourism. Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, eight revamped railway stations—Morappur, Bomidi, Srivilliputhur, Cholavandan, Manapparai, Pollachi Junction, Karaikudi Junction, and Thiruvarur Junction—will be dedicated to the nation.

Adding to the tech upgrades, new All India Radio FM relay transmitters in Kumbakonam, Yercaud, and Vellore will strengthen broadcasting across the state. The tour culminates around 4 PM at the historic Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, one of Lord Murugan’s six abodes, where Modi will offer prayers.

This visit isn’t just about bricks and mortar; it’s a masterstroke in public engagement. With elections on the horizon, Modi’s focus on development underscores the NDA’s commitment to southern India’s progress, potentially reshaping the political narrative in Tamil Nadu.
