In a vibrant celebration marking National Science Day, Sarva Panchayat in Sheikhpura district became the focal point of the Indian government’s Sampoorna Abhiyan 2.0 on Saturday. Held at Anganwadi Center No. 156, the awareness drive underscored the critical need for maternal and child health, nutrition, and hygiene in aspirational blocks.
The initiative, spanning February to April, targets aspirational districts and blocks to foster community sensitivity towards health and nutrition. Key dignitaries including local representative Munni Kumari, Deputy Development Commissioner, District Planning Officer, ICDS Program Officer, Jivika DPM, Block Development Officer Barhiga, Circle Officer Barhiga, Referral Hospital in-charge, and CDPO Barhiga graced the event.
Officials elaborated on the campaign’s goals: enhancing maternal and infant health, early TB detection, consistent nutrition services, and upgrading Anganwadi facilities. The program featured godh bharai ceremonies for pregnant women and annaprashan for six-month-olds, alongside vital education on pregnancy care and infant nurturing.
Children under six received study kits, while adolescent girls learned about nutrition, hygiene, and safe drinking water, getting menstrual hygiene kits. Health teams screened for anemia, distributed medicines, and stressed balanced diets and menstrual hygiene. Open defecation risks were highlighted, urging toilet usage.
Anganwadi workers and health staff emphasized that nutrition alone isn’t enough—personal hygiene, safe environments, and exercise are essential. They noted healthy mothers and girls form the bedrock of thriving societies. This event aimed to spark lasting positive change through heightened awareness.
