Panchkula, February 28: In a landmark initiative, Haryana Police convened its inaugural B-Level Welfare Conference at the ERSS Auditorium here, chaired by Director General Ajay Singhal. The gathering brought together senior officers to delve deeply into welfare concerns of police personnel and their families, charting comprehensive plans for the future.

DG Singhal emphasized that the well-being of officers and their loved ones remains the department’s top priority, a commitment that will guide all future endeavors. He stressed not just policy formulation at headquarters but their effective ground-level execution. Direct communication channels with all police lines and families will be established to swiftly address grievances and needs.

The session reviewed B-Level welfare activities and paid tribute to two martyred personnel—Inspector Jagdish Prasad and PSI Ravi—with a two-minute silence. SP Mohit Handa from the Welfare Branch presented a progress report on decisions from the previous meeting.

A major announcement was the upcoming launch of the ‘Shagun Yojana,’ providing Rs 2.5 lakh from the Haryana Police Welfare Fund for daughters’ weddings of personnel, with plans to double it to Rs 5 lakh. Improvements in allowances, transfer policies, and promotions aim to bolster security and convenience for the force.

Education initiatives shine bright with 22 DAV Police Public Schools offering modern, tech-driven learning and concessions. Children of deceased officers receive free education, benefiting around 1,200 students daily. Police lines are getting e-libraries and smart classrooms.

Health and financial safeguards have been fortified: regular check-ups for 17,985 personnel in 2025, mental health consultations, gym facilities in every district, accident death insurance raised to Rs 1 crore, natural death aid to Rs 10 lakh. Jobs provided to dependents of 381 martyrs, with aid tripled.

Housing pushes include Shagun Yojana expansions, hostel upgrades via Gift Scheme, and new banquet/community halls in police lines. DG Singhal urged all ranks to uphold discipline, diligence, and service spirit to elevate Haryana Police’s reputation.

Key attendees included Navdeep Singh Virk of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, ADGs Kala Ramachandran, CS Rao, Amitabh Dhillon, Sanjay Kumar, KK Rao, Hardeep Singh Doon, and Sonipat Police Commissioner Mamta Singh, alongside commissioners, range officers, and district heads.
