Gandhinagar, February 27: Gujarat’s Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia announced a major boost for the state’s economy as four of the world’s top hi-tech industries are set to establish operations in the region. Speaking during the general discussion on the 2026-27 state budget, Modhwadia highlighted how strategic investments and prudent fiscal management have solidified Gujarat’s leadership in economic growth, manufacturing, and technological advancement.

The minister emphasized that Gujarat’s economic discipline, robust infrastructure development, and industry-focused policies are drawing back talent and investments to the state. ‘Out of the world’s top five to six hi-tech industries, four are coming to Gujarat,’ Modhwadia declared, pointing to the upcoming inauguration of the Micron Semiconductor plant in Sanand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a historic milestone in India’s tech journey.

This influx is reversing the brain drain trend, with Indian professionals and CEOs returning from abroad to contribute to Gujarat’s industrial boom. Modhwadia also praised the state’s swift response to the COVID-19 pandemic under PM Modi’s leadership, where India developed three vaccines in record time and provided free doses to 1.4 billion citizens, even exporting aid to other nations.

Turning to agriculture, the minister commended Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi for supporting farmers. The government spent Rs 15,000 crore on peanut procurement and directly transferred Rs 11,000 crore to farmers in 16,000 villages affected by monsoon disasters, bypassing delays in surveys. Modern digital systems now allow farmers to access land records like 7/12 and 8-A online without visiting offices.

Gujarat’s fiscal prudence and budgetary discipline continue to set a national benchmark, positioning the state as a magnet for global innovation and growth.
