Beijing’s civil aviation sector soared to unprecedented levels in 2025, marking a banner year for passenger travel, cargo handling, and aircraft movements. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the nation’s civilian transport airports processed a staggering 1,529.046 million passengers, up 4.8% from the previous year. Cargo and mail throughput reached 21.864 million tons, reflecting a robust 9.0% increase, while aircraft takeoffs and landings totaled 12.448 million, growing by 0.4% year-on-year.
The CAAC released its annual production statistics bulletin, painting a vivid picture of China’s aviation dominance. By year’s end, the country boasted 270 certified transport airports, with 266 operating regular flights serving 261 cities and regions. This expansive network underscores China’s commitment to connectivity and economic growth.
In passenger traffic, 41 major airports handled over 10 million travelers each, accounting for 83.7% of the national total. These hubs, from bustling Beijing Capital to Shanghai Pudong, are the lifeblood of domestic and international travel.
Cargo operations were equally impressive, with 35 airports surpassing 100,000 tons in throughput, representing 93.6% of the country’s total. This surge highlights China’s pivotal role in global logistics, fueled by e-commerce booms and manufacturing prowess.
