In a proactive move to bolster community ties, Jammu City South Police organized a crucial community-police partnership meeting in Rajiv Nagar on February 26. The session, under the Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG), zeroed in on the escalating menace of drug peddlers and substance abuse plaguing the area.
Chaired by the SP City South Jammu, the gathering saw active participation from local residents, the SHO of Bahu Fort Police Station, the Incharge of PP Narwal, and other senior officers. Dozens of Rajiv Nagar inhabitants voiced deep concerns over rampant drug trafficking activities that are luring youth into addiction and instilling fear in families.
Residents highlighted how these illicit operations are eroding the social fabric, with young people falling prey to narcotics, leading to broken homes and rising crime. Police officials listened intently, acknowledging the urgency to intensify anti-drug drives. The SP elaborated on the devastating health impacts of drugs, their role in societal breakdown, increased criminality, and familial disintegration.
Emphasizing legal repercussions for offenders, the SP urged the community to report any suspicious activities without hesitation. Another pressing issue raised was late-night disturbances by unruly youth and anti-social elements, threatening the safety of women and children. In response, police committed to ramping up night patrols, deploying special surveillance teams, and cracking down harshly on troublemakers.
‘The bond of trust between police and community is the strongest weapon against crime,’ the SP asserted. This initiative underscores Jammu Police’s commitment to a safer, drug-free neighborhood through collaborative vigilance.
