Mumbai’s entertainment scene is buzzing with anticipation for Konkona Sen Sharma’s latest venture, the streaming thriller ‘Accused’. The National Award-winning actress, celebrated for her bold choices and impeccable performances, opened up in an exclusive interview about her self-perception and the pressures of stardom.

Konkona confessed that she often struggles with the label of ‘artist’. ‘The way the world sees me doesn’t align with how I view myself,’ she shared candidly. ‘I don’t dwell much on my public image. To me, I’m just an ordinary person constantly learning and trying to understand myself better. Calling myself an artist sometimes feels contrived.’

During promotions for ‘Accused’, Konkona delved deeper into her introspective nature. She emphasized the value of self-criticism, stating, ‘Self-reflection and questioning oneself lead to growth. Assuming perfection is a dangerous mindset. Recognizing mistakes and evolving with time is essential for progress.’

On the elusive control over public perception, she remarked, ‘We have little say in what people think of us. Society, media, and audiences form their own images of artists. Obsessing over external views can disconnect you from your true self. Instead, focus on strengthening your inner world and don’t let outside opinions dominate.’

Konkona advocates breaking free from rigid images. ‘Staying trapped in one persona harms both the artist and the individual. I prioritize listening to my inner voice over public opinion because mental peace matters most.’ Her upcoming film ‘Accused’ streams on Netflix from February 27, promising another layer to her versatile career.
